Moving to Houston & wages

Published

Specializes in Adult ER.

Hello everyone

I'm a Canadian nursing student - almost done my practicum YEAHHHH and i have a few questions for all of you that work down in Houston or the Houston area. I have been down to Houston to visit (never in the summer though) so i know what the city is like. my questions are regarding the best places to work and the kind of wages that i should expect. I will be graduating with a BsN will have NCLEX and everything like that and will also have worked for about 6 months before i get down there. also if anyone has any suggestions for suburbs to live in that info would be greatly appreciated as i will be moving with my children...... i like the looks of Sugarland but maybe some of you have better suggestions.

Thanks

Danielle

P.S. are there really flying roaches down there...... saw that in a few posts can i say ewwwwwwwww :imbar mosquito's i can handle but flying roaches you have to be kidding right?????:uhoh21: :uhoh21:

Yes, we really have flying roaches. They are tree roaches and they are big. That aside, where you live in Houston depends on where you get a job. Hospitals in the medical center are always hiring. You can expect around $20 American dollars/hr.

Sugar Land is VERY nice.. I don't know about the wages though. I'm moving there after I graduate. I'm in the Tx Med Center right now.
