what do you all think are the most common reasons someone fails the nclex? do you think it's nerves, or lack of preperation, etc? just curious. everyone keeps saying "you will be fine", but when it comes down to it, what if i am not? i didn't want to get my hopes up at first to pass, but now i just found out if i do not, i basically lose my job, and i (like many others), cant afford it!

I would like to say i passed because of God. I went inside the tesing center carrying with me God's grace and the love and support of my family and friends...i studied for 5 months, but the questions i got, i wasnt even aware of..soome of the drugs ive never heard in all my life...i just kept praying, my family and friends kept praying...trusting God really made a difference...
i was 95% sure id fail, but 5% of me held on to the hope that i will. After days of crying and wallowing in self pity, my dad called to congratulate me. I passed, but there was no way i couldve done it on my own..

Don't sell yourself short! You made it through nursing school, you studying for the NCLEX, you took the test, you passed it. Sure you had some encouragement but what's wrong with having someone you love on your side?
I think the reasons are being unprepared, being nervous, not reading carefully (hurrying through the test), not getting enough sleep, not eating enough protein, eating too much sugar and the list goes on. I don't think you can pin it down to one thing unless you know you're unprepared and or are a bad test taker.
I am going to try to do the opposite of everything you listed.
I was just curious b/c I have been reading where many people didn't pass, or have taken it multiple times, but there's supposed to be a 85% passing rate?
Im sure you know how nervous I am. any tips to get over test anxiety? Thanks.

There's no getting around the fact that a person must be prepared and ready for the test. However, many people who were A students in school and thought they were well-prepared still fail the test. Nerves always plays a big part. You just have to do the best you can, schedule the test when you think you are ready, and practice good test taking techniques the day of the test. Good luck.
