Most beneficial degree when applying for PA program?

Specializes in CNA Certified.

Hello all,

I have been recently accepted into a nursing school for ADN and I'm really excited !

My ultimate goal is to become a PA or NP one day after I finish my studies. I have attended a University for the past two years as a Psych major to acquire the credits needed to go towards the Nursing Prgram I was accepted into; after Nursing School I will have a little over 45 cr hrs. But unfortunately I won't have a degree. Would it be smart to go back and finish out for a psych degree after I receive my ADN?

Your best option would probably be to do a RN-BSN program. That way you could go to a NP program or a PA program.

I'm not sure a nursing degree will transfer over for a medical one. I know at least my school doesn't require some of the courses that are needed as prerequisites for a PA program (a whole year of organic chemistry, physics etc).

If you do an ADN program you should then graduate and do the RN-BSN programs like Leenak said since you'll need the Bachelors to get into any Np program.
