More free time in school as a GN/RN?

Published

I haven't yet started my first job after graduating, and am just wondering if most people have more free time once you start working after school, or if you had more during school.

I can only imagine I'll have more free time! As it is, I work 3 days/week and do clinical 3 days/week, as well as doing the course work we are required to do before we graduate. Next year when all I am doing is working 5 days/week, I'll have bucketloads of free time! I already know that after about a year of 'just' working, I will be bored and I'll want to do some additional study.

Of course, I don't have kids to occupy my time. If I did that would certainly help me fill in those long hours!

I have more free time just working now, because I worked full time in nursing school; however, I am waaay more tired now on my days off than I was before.

I worked for 18h/week and had classes for about 14 h/week and then had to study.

I now work 40h/week and have way more free time. Its all about the quality. Now I can read a book or take a nap or go shopping. Then I had to study.
