Has anyone graduated from Aspen University RN-MSN?

I am ADN looking to get at least my BSN, but am seriously considering the MSN after finding Aspen. I have narrowed it down to Western Governors and Aspen. Aspen wins for cost$$ and probably shorter completion time. offers the BSN in the middle, whereas Aspen doesn't. My concern is, if I begin Aspen and peter out, then all will be for naught. I have read glowing reports of Aspen here on All Nurses, but has anybody actually graduated and how was it? Also, WGU enrollment counselor could only tell me that their graduation rate is "over 50%". Any thoughts?

Evidently you and I came to the same conclusions after doing our respective "due diligence." For me it also was either Aspen or . Aspen won out by virtue of my projection of cost and time investment. I am very happy in the Aspen program; I am far from graduation but have learned so much thus far.

I recommended WGU to my daughter, a Business Marketing major, and she is enrolled in her first class and loves it. I saw the "inner workings" of the program and it is definitely excellent. Lots of mentoring, but Aspen offers the same--a very personalized experience. I think you will just have to make that hard choice--but either way you choose, I believe you will be pleased.

Thank you so much for taking the time to reply. I am still in the application process, but am now leaning towards because I don't have the required prereqs for Aspen. I can take any needed prereqs in the WGU program, whereas I would have to complete them at a CC before enrolling at Aspen and I am ready to start NOW!

I am glad to hear that you have high opinions of WGU. I know it will not be easy either way, but I am really anxious to get going now that I have made my mind up to go back to school. Should have done it years ago, but that's how it goes. Good luck in your program!

Hi JLO,

I'm looking at 's RN to BSN program right now. I'm not sure what your situation is, but you mention you have no nursing experience. WGU has several programs, programs for already licensed RN's are the RN to BSN, RN to MSN. The pre-licensure program (you start without an RN and eventually get a BSN), is only available in a few areas because of the on-site clinical required (certain areas in Utah and So. California, somewhere else too, I don't have the list in front of me).

WGU is looking fairly attractive to me, partly because they will accept my previous college credits from quite some time ago. At the same time I'm a little concerned about the way they are structured, you always take essentially a full course load, you can't take just a couple of classes at a time. The up side is that you move at your own pace, it's not a specific number of hours that you have to do.
