i am a mom of a 12 year old daughter and need advice about her periods

Hello all how is everyone doing.So my 12 year old came to me on Monday and told me that she just got her first period .I was like honey i am so proud of you and i was like do you know what this means your becoming a young lady.So she was so upset and very nervous and scared and crying.I told her there is nothing to be scared or nervous about.So since her first period she has been very depressed about it and i am running out of things to say or things to do with her.I was wondering does anyone have any ideas why she would be so depressed about her period.I have told her if she needs me i am here for her anytime .I have set up her own cycle journal and told her to keep track of it .I ask her if there was anything else bothering her and she was like i wish i never had my period.I am a concern mom and a little worried any ideas.

How is it that my daughter that she is only 12 and gets her first period i was 14 when i first got mine.Is it now common for a 12 year old girl to have her period.Take care and have a great day
