Reference Programs for PDAs

  1. Does anyone know of any sites where you can download FREE medical PDA programs? I already tried Epocrates and DxSaurus, but I am not too sure that I like them. Epocrates has a decent drug guide, but it doesn't really include nursing interventions for medications. Thanks for any information!

The IT department at my hospital gave me the codes for Thomson Clinical Xpert, which is free for us. We have alt med, calculators, diseases, drugs, interactions, lab advisor, my alerts and toxicology. It might be worth seeing if your facility has something similar.

There is a PDA forum on allnurses with some good information as well.

    Good luck in your search!!!

Epocrates has a free medication reference available for download.

Merck Medicus (Mobile Merck Manual and Pocket Guide to Diagnostic Tests) is also available as a free download

If you search the publishers websites you will find that many printed references are also available with an electronic version as well.

Checking your IT department was also an excellent suggestion, particularly if you work at a large or teaching facility.
