Please clarify if you can mix Levamir and Novalog. I have read that you can and that you shouldn't and would like to know which is correct. Thanks!

Levamir should never be mixed with anything. This information is easily found in any drug book. Are you still in Pre-Nursing? Or now in Nursing? Either way, if you continue on to nursing school and the nursing profession in general, you should really learn how to utilize drug books.

Thank you for asking. That is the mark of a good nurse. If you don't know, sk. Don't just guess. If you find you are getting conflicting information, continue to ask until you get an answer from a reliable source (like your drug book) or an expert like a Certified Diabetes Educator (CDE).
Never mix Levmir or Lantus with other insulin (Both are long acting, peakless insulins). Mixing these with other insulins can effect the effectivness of both.
I know sometimes the drug book can be confusing because, especially if you are new to using one. Some people think you shoulkd not give Levemir (or Lantus) at the same time, or "with", other insulins like Novolog, Humalog or Apidra. You can. Just don't mix them in the same syriinge. They CAN be given concurrently. Just don't mix them together in the same syringe.
Good luck and keep askinig questions. No one expects you to know everything, they just expect you to know who to ask.
