Chamberlain college of Nursing - any graduates?

Although i have never personally taken the program, when in clinicals my instructor had just graduated from there. At least in STL Chamberlain nursing are normally always hired, it is a bachelors program. The instructor was able to find a job no problem and loved the program. From what I have heard though, Chamberlain is a hard school. Most people in the program have to work their butts off to do well and because of this thier pass rate isn't going to be great. Look at it this way though, if their pass rate isn't high it may not be because of the schools teaching, it may be because they actually care about the students and don't kick them out to keep their pass rate high. It happens in MANY nurisng schools in the STL area. hope i helped!

I am a graduate of Chamberlain. Ziggie you are not too far off with your opinion. I have a RN position in a very competitive, sought after specialty. I was well prepared and educated after receiving my BSN from their program. Every one of my classmates passed NCLEX on their first attempt, every one! The majority of them have jobs in great areas, critical care, peds, ED, ect., even during this tough time for nurses r/t hiring freezes. Chamberlain gives a lot of student oppurtunities that would otherwise not have them, that is true, but it takes a lot of work to succeed in nursing school. You also have to keep in mind the campuses outside of STL are very new programs, while STL was previously a school by another name. It takes time to tweak a programs. The education facility is a foundation, how you choose to grow is totally in your hands. I am very happy with my education, I always had a support staff at school that genuinely cared about Nursing and the students. Good luck! If you have any other questions don't hesitate to ask!

Did you end up starting in October? Do you like it? Our first graduating class has 1 (out of 4) but the classes get bigger and bigger, hopefully. I just started in July, and yes it is a very hard program.

Hey Las16, did you do the BSN not the RN-BSN because I have just been accepted in the BSN-Jacksonville campus and I know they are accredited and all but how long did it take you to complete the BSN program if that's what you did and if you already have all your pre-reqs, basically you are starting with the nursing classes, like how long will it take?

hi i was just wondering if you knew if your bsn degree from chamberlain enables you to go on and get your masters at a uc or csu?

and also will i have time to work part time with this bsn program?

Hello, I am a recent Chamberlain graduate. I was happy with the program. It was quite challenging. The pace can be a lot to keep up with. I had some really great instructors, many of which were left over from the days it was Deaconess college of nursing. There are a lot of rumors that swirl around about Chamberlain and the last reported pass rate wasn't so great, which had to do with a handful of cheaters that are no longer allowed to sit for boards from what I understand. And yes, it is a for profit school. I felt it prepared me well, I just recently passed the NCLEX on the first try with 75 questions. What I liked most about the school is that they really take suggestions from students seriously and act on them if possible. Recently we made suggestions regarding classes that should not be offered online as well as the order of some of the classes in the curriculum. They listened and changed it. I chose Chamberlain at the time because they had no wait list and it was an accelerated program. It wouldn't have been my first choice, but I am glad I went there. My classmates and I have landed some great positions right out of school. As for myself, I have been accepted into a critical care program at one of the top 5 hospitals in the country, my dream job!

If you have any specific questions, let me know. The main battle is keeping up with the pace. We lost quite a few along the way.

Hello people!

I have applied to Chamberlain as well (I find out if I got in 2 weeks from now *fingers crossed*) so I and my family have the same concerns. I heard about their 50% graduation and retention rate and I'm a little uneasy about that. I feel better after reading the posts of those who have been to the school but I still wanted to ask a couple questions:

For the ones who went to the Jacksonville campus, how was it there (curriculum, NCLEX pass rate, job placement, etc)? There seems to be more people talking about the St. Louis campus instead so I wanted to get insight into the one in Florida (since that is the one I applied to). Also to "meatballexperience" did you do the 13 month accelerated option or the regular BSN option?
