Hey everyone, I'm currently looking for some suggestions on what I should do in my situation. I'm currently finishing up my pre reqs to for nursing school and will be finished in December. I was hoping to apply for fall 2017 but the deadline to apply for fall was in September. So now I'm going to have to apply in July for the Spring 2017 semester. I'm bummed because that's a whole 6 months of me just waiting around. Time that could of been used to taking classes in the nursing program. I finished all my general ed classes, so I literally only need to take nursing courses. Does anyone have any suggestions on what to do during those 6 months that I have to wait? Thank you!
also I live in Los Angeles and my first choice school is LA CountyðŸ™ðŸ¼

Work and save as much money as you can all while enjoying your last 6 months of "freedom" :)

I'm not in school yet, but I agree, WORK and save up money! I'm going to (hopefully) be an accelerated 2nd degree student, and I already have a full time 40+ hour per week job. I intend on using the time between waiting on hearing back from schools and (hopefully) starting classes to study for/take the GRE. Depending on how much time I have, I might pick up more volunteering shifts or volunteer in a new area for a little while.
Maybe use the free time to teach yourself a new (fun) skill? Take a yoga class? Take a small vacation if you can afford it? I would ENJOY your time, but also use it wisely.
Good luck!

Well, are you sure that the deadline passed? If so, you can spend that six months like others suggested. I think you could also do some volunteering work at a local hospital. That will look very nice on your resume!

I just glanced at their website and it looks to me like the deadline for Fall 2017 entry is February 15th (I would assume 2017 - this is a similar application schedule for my school). Am I reading it wrong? Los Angeles County Department of Health Services-College of Nursing & Allied Health -School of Nursing-Prospective Student-Application Procedure

Use that time to finish extra prereqs needed for your BSN, even if you are unsure you want it. It would be better to have those classes out of the way now, in case you decide to further your education, than to need them later but be short on time. In Florida, for example, we are required 2 years of foreign language to get a BSN. While waiting on my acceptance, I finished up my language courses and the math required for BSN. Now, everything is set up to start the BSN program as soon as the ADN is done, so I am st least 2 semesters ahead of my cohorts.

I just want to recommend that you check your dates carefully. You said,
apply for fall 2017 but the deadline to apply for fall was in September. So now I'm going to have to apply in July for the Spring 2017 semester.
But even if the deadlines are truly past, I want to congratulate you for not whining that they wouldn't take your application now and playing the special snowflake card -- admission offices really, really hate that. Work and save every last dime you can; if you don't have to do that for some reason (lucky you!!) then by all means get a jump start on your BSN prereqs and co-reqs. Good luck!
I just want to recommend that you check your dates carefully. You said, You couldn't have had a Sept 2016 deadline for a fall 2017 start; it doesn't make sense that you would apply in July 2017 (that's the next July on my calendar) for Spring 2017. Did you mean 2018? But even if the deadlines are truly past, I want to congratulate you for not whining that they wouldn't take your application now and playing the special snowflake card -- admission offices really, really hate that. Yeah, it looks like the schools site doesn't include the year of the application deadline, so I think it's just an easy misunderstanding and she hasn't missed the date at all.
