Has anyone ever taken these two classes in the same semester. Im doing that this semester and I was just wondering what I should be prepared for. I have one on MWF(A&P) and the other Tues and Thurs(Micro) so I hope this will help me out a bit. If you think Im insane for even attempting this please tell :chuckle and also tell me why. Any suggestions will be appreciated.

I've never taken more than one science together, but know many that have. Don't think I have the will or time to, but that is just me. It is doable but a challenge. If you have the strength, will and time go for it (I applaud you for that too). Good luck to you. :)

Well, it's been moons since I took those two classes, but I remember taking them together. I enjoyed Micro, so I looked forward to going to that class. It was a WELCOME break for me after sitting in A&P I....some of which bored me stiff. The teacher was just boring, and made no effort to perk up his own mood, so had a monotone voice to yawn to all quarter. :rotfl: For A&P II was more interesting than A&P I. The teacher was better I think. :chuckle
yeah, we can bond together while we lose our minds! :uhoh21:

Hi there.
This has been my experience:
This past spring I took 5 classes: Micro of Human Pathogens, A&P 1, A&P lab,
Fine Arts, and math.
In addition to working 50 hours a week. (you can tell I don't have any kids...right?)
Anyhow, there were numerous times I thought I was going to lose my mind-or was not feeling my best. The key is to prioritize and break things down. Take one thing at a time. I can say that I spent every Sunday studying from the time that I woke up till early the next morning (Monday was my lab day-and having to memorize muscles, bones, etc...and learn how to spell em'--ohhhh...I had no life at all- I was in constant state of being "wired")
Well, through my experience, I have learned: I have found no one who recommends taking an anatomy class/or lab in the summer. Also, everyone that I have spoken to has told me how they wish they should of taken A&P 1 with Micro- as oppossed to A&P 2 with Micro (they say that was hard as heck).
The teachers have told me that for each hour of class-that you should study 3 hours. So for a 3 hour lab-you should study 9 hours outside of the class..
You don't say if you are working or not? I think that makes a difference. (I did not have a choice). In addition, I don't think that many people take 5 classes at a time (I did this because I started in remedial math-so my thought process was to "catch up" without being set-back because I was faced with 2 additional maths on top of the standard 2.
This fall, I will have 3 classes left (of my pre-reqs) anat 2, anat lab, and a math class. While I might have endured a little more hard work in the spring, I think that I have a good chance of doing well (and can relax more) only having to take 3 classes instead of 4 (while still having to work full time)
In addtion, It has been 20 years since I have been in college. (this itself is scary) My "mature" nature (and having to make a living) is also a part of my motivation. In my classes, I see so many people who are not serious about being in school, or skip class., or cheat..
I think you get out of it, what you put into it. I strive to do the best that I can. That being said, I often notice (as well as seen it reflected in posts on this site) that motivation and support can be hard to come by sometimes. I have been inspired by many of the posts on this site-and feel as though it is a great resource for all those interested, or working in this field. I like the fact that if I have a question, or need motivation, or if someone needs to vent- you can do it here. This is great for those of us who lack a support group, or families, or lack someone to talk to that would understand where you are coming from.
I hope by sharing this, it helps somewhat. I wish you the best in your school year. You can accomplish anything once you set your mind to it. Good luck!

Well, I hope it goes really well for you and I hope you reply back. Why? Because that is exactly what I will be taking in the spring!!! :rotfl: Too bad you couldn't wait until then - we could muddle through together. I am taking A&P I and Human Growth & Development this fall, but in the spring will be A&P II and Micro for me. And, to make matters even more trying, all of mine will be 100% online (plus work full time, have 2 small kiddos {a 3 y.o. and a 4 mo. old.} and a hubby). Yes, I know I am crazy, but not likely to change any time soon either. Best of luck to you and I hope it goes really well for both of our sakes.

I'm also taking A&P 2 and Micro, but those are the only classes I'm taking this semester. I also have 3 daughters and a husband. My oldest just started middle school, my middle one just started kindergarten, and my youngest will be in preschool two days a week starting in a couple of weeks. So I will have about 4 hours of alone time at home to study a week.
I do know that A&P 1 took a lot of study time. I learned to make very good use of my study time and use any extra time you have. Ex. Waiting in the doctors office, in between classes, etc. My husband also helps when he can. But he works 10-12 hours a day and is also going back to school.
Good Luck to you and everyone else this semester!:)
Sorry it took me so long to reply classes just started this week for me and I will definitely keep you posted. Good luck to you as well.

I took A/P 3 and Micro together last winter. It wasn't horrible but it sure was time consuming. I have 4 kids and have to commute an hour to school. My micro was a hybrid class (lecture portion online, lab and exams on campus), AP was 2 days a week (2 lecture, 1 lab). The worst part for me (other than the HOURS of studying) was...both finals were on the same day. I had one at like 3 and the next one at 6. I managed to get A's in both...so it is doable, just stay focused and DON'T fall behind!
