Wondering how the Twin Cities RN/LPN market is now, both for new grads and experienced nurses looking for a change. I am in the same job for 8 years and not looking to change, but I have noticed many more ads for nurses, and use of the phrase 'new grads welcome to apply". Are things getting better?

In my company we have jobs going begging (residential psych).

RN good, LPN not so much.

Mayo is hiring RN's like crazy if you're willing to be a bit south of the Twin Cities.

I'm graduating May 2017 with my BSN and am seriously considering Mayo, it checks off all of my boxes. I've been doing my research since freshman year. I am applying for the Summer III, but my GPA is not that high so I don't anticipate being accepted into the program. Do you think that the shortage @ Mayo is going to continue? I have read about high numbers of nurses retiring due to changes in the pension plan, but that was for 2014. Thanks!

It's hard to say. 2 or 3 years ago Mayo was overstaffed. This year they've hired more nurses than ever, and it's still not enough! Too bad you won't be graduated in time, because you could have my job in August, lol. I've decided the bedside isn't for me.
