Minneapolis Starting Salary

U.S.A. Minnesota

I know this has been covered a few times, but I'm having trouble finding any recent posts for new grads.

I don't trust a lot of the salary type website and what not, but what should a BSN with no experience expect to make straight out of school?

This came up because we were arguing the benefits of Government job vs. Private sector.

I know the VA Medical Center Starts off at $60,000/year (bout @29/hr)

I'm curious what other major hospitals in the area start out at. I know that it depends on what you're doing and where you're going, but lets just say general Med-Surg at a metro hospital.

I was told by a girl I work with (she's and LPN) that her friend with her 4 year straight out school got hired at HCMC Cardiac Unit at $44/hour? I think her friend is full of it haha

Specializes in Critical Care.

Depending on acuity of her patients, this is a very real possibility. You don't see all the certs/experience/differentials/etc. when you see the base salary. Base salary tends to hover around 29-31 dollars per hour.

Yea I know that it is possible, but the girl was a BSN straight out of school. No other certifications; just passed her NCLEX & that I didn't really think was possible without some other certifications, experience, or further education.

she possibly took 44/hr w/ no benefits? or through a travel agency? otherwise i think she is full of it lol
