Michigan State University Accelerated 2nd Degree BSN

Published

Has anyone applied to MSU's accelerated BSN program for start date of May 2014 that did not get in as a traditional student? Hoping we can all keep each other in the loop here on the status of our apps in case they do wait lists. I am also interested to know what people have been denied/accepted with in the past as far as the 2nd degree program goes. I heard it's easier to get into than the traditional program, but who knows...

Sorry, I meant what people had as a cumulative GPA and prereq GPA who were accepted/rejected-I don't want to get personal and know everyone's names! I applied twice as a traditional student while attending MSU with a Cum/prereq GPA of 3.3/3.4 and didn't get it. Now I have a cum/prereq of 3.55/3.4 & hoping it will be good enough for this cohort.

I never applied to the traditional program but I applied to the accelerated program for 2013 and was denied with a GPA of 3.17. I have applied for 2014! I believe I heard back in January last year.

Also, I believe my friends who were accepted for the accelerated program had GPAs very similar to yours!

Thank you cmn1. That gives me hope! I really hope you get in soon also!

I got my letter from MSU today and was accepted! I am so happy. Good luck cmn1!

Congrats Jane1117!! MSU sends out acceptance letters by mail right?

Thanks! Yes by mail. The letter was dated 01/17/14.

Oh my gosh that is so exciting! I'm out of state so my decision should take an extra day or two to get here. Good luck!

I live in MI but I didn't get mine yet. No mail on Monday because of MLK day, so I guess I have to wait until Tuesday.

Hi, I received my letter on Saturday the 18th, it was dated the 17th. I only live about 30 minutes away, so that probably was a factor in how quickly it arrived. I was accepted with a 3.86 GPA overall and a roughly 3.6 (I don't think I actually calculated it before I sent them in) pre-req GPA, a bachelor degree in Healthcare Administration, and an MBA in Healthcare Management. I was also a transfer.

I had a 3.55 cumulative and 3.4 prereq gpa. Had a bachelor of science in business admin with volunteer experience in healthcare setting and healthcare work. I live 1.5 hrs from ms and got my letter Saturday.
