I got mine today! I am so excited! This is the best birthday present! My b-day is today!!!

:balloons: Well then Congrats and Happy Birthday!!!:balloons: I got mine on Tuesday - see you at Orientation!

Welcome Newbies!!,

Get your mind right now, before you enter hell. Just kidding. You will learn so much within this next year. I'm excited for you all. I just passed my MedSurg 3 final with a 90 so I'll have a 89 for my final grade and I got an A in clinical. It doesn't have to be "C" your way through nursing school. Anyway, I'm so glad for this break, I feel like I'm going to bust. By the way. The job offers have almost been non-stop and I haven't even graduated yet. If you can take Maddie Diedo or Caroline Peltz for Foundations or MedSurg 1, DO IT!! They are hard, but it makes the rest of nursing school so much easier. The Western campus is the best, if you don't want to be in a pig sty at the Northwest. It's much quieter and way more professional. So again congratulations and goodluck. If you guys need help, I'm willing to help. I did quite well in all of my nursing classes.

You may have your opinions, but I really don't think it's necessary to bash the Northwest campus.

HMMM, no doors on bathroom stalls roaches in the classrooms and lunch room, upstairs smells like cat pee when it rains. Yes, that is my opinion and my opinion says pigsty. We may not pay much for tuition, but we at least deserve to be taught in a clean environment. That's just my opinion as well.

You are not kidding, lol...it is hell....lol

and the N.W. Campus is totally disgusting and in ill repair, have you looked up at the ceiling tiles? they like ready to drop, and covered with mold...that whole building is in bad shape and there are people hanging out there who are not even students, I hate taking classes at NorthWest..Western is much nicer. I did all of my pre req's there.

I just finished MS/II and OB. Shew...I am glad OB is over too....

So, how is Psych? is it interesting? where did you take your clinical at? for both MS/III and Psych? Congratz to you on finishing up semester 3, you are in the home stretch now....oh yeah..what is Nursing transitions all about??

You may have your opinions, but I really don't think it's necessary to bash the Northwest campus.

Everyone I know, who has attended classes there, feel it is dump as well, even some of the instructor's dislike it....

It's dirty, there are broken windows, leaky ceiling, ceiling tiles with mold all over them ready to crash down on your head, no one ever vaccuums there, and there are people who are not students hanging out there, another nursing student had her tires stolen right in the parking lot, so the security is not very secure and my husband works in a field, where he knows the police calls, and that area is full of thieves..so it's not the best neighborhood and the building needs to be condemned. Oh yeah, and it floods really bad...I just can't see anything positive with it...except for the staff, they are all friendly.

"another nursing student had her tires stolen right in the parking lot" That is CRAZY!!!! I see NW is trying to move to another building. Hopefully that will be a nicer location. Hey, have you guys seen the new bookstore at the Western Campus?!?! It is beautiful!!! I can't wait till the renovations are over. I am trying for the Western Campus since I only live like 5 miles from there. I have to admit, I am partial to the Western campus, that is where I got my start with nursing school. It is like home for me.

Andrea, Physh first? See ya on Monday!?!

Psych was my worst rotation yet. Some people love it and others hate it. It's so very depressing, to know that these people are trapped in their own minds and because it's cheaper to medicate them rather than counseling, all you see is a bunch of doped up clients suffering from the affects of their meds and all of the horror stories they have. But because its so much paperwork and reading, I say take it first. I did my psych rotation at Heritage. Just so you know, you wear casual dress clothes, no jeans, tennis shoes. Many of the clients are HOMICIDAL. Don't ever have a false sense of security on the unit. There was one guy at Heritage who was released and later murdered someone (a friend of mine had this guy as a patient). Another guy at Circle of Life killed his roomate, A patient at Walter Reuther choked to death in the lunchroom. This all happened while students were in clinical. Oh yeah, be prepared for the patients male and female to make sexual advances to you.

I did my MS3 clinical at Henry Ford Main. Loved it. Had Mr. Gmerek, he's awesome. Ms. Thomas is also there, she's great too. MS is the easy part. I didn't hear too many good things about Henderson.

I could go on and on. You guys are already ahead of the curve. I can tell you really support each other.

I took my first 7.5 weeks at NW, and I just finished my second 7.5 at Western campus, and I do agree that it is nicer! But that is not the point I am trying to make. Enough people say bad things about our school. I don't think that we should make ourselves look any worse or add to the bad reputation that WCCCD has. Obviously, they are aware that the campus has problems, which is why they are investing in a new building. We are lucky that the NW campus is there, or half of us wouldn't even be in the program.

To add to that, I just took my final for Med/surg I theory, and passed with flying colors, along with my 4 NW buddies that are in the class with me, while quite a few of the "Westerners" who failed....so the quality of the campus is not what matters in Nursing School.

I'm sorry I just got offended, because Lotus made it sound like the Western campus folks were so much better.

Obviously we both have had a breakdown in communication. My point simply is that we pay tuition, the school's enrollment is at an all time high and the Nursing program is the driving force behind that. Why on earth would you want the condition of that place to represent the professionalism of the program. And as for "Westerners" being "better" than NW students thats a bunch of crap. All instructors teach at both campuses and depending on where you fall in lottery decides where you wind up. We all know you can be a rocket scientist and still fail this program. If the NW campus was up to par structurally I would happily go there because it's closer to home. Tell me this, why would they spend millions of dollars to expand the Western campus and leave the NW in it's present state? I'm proud to go to WCCCD, EVERYONE, that I've talked to at my jobs and clinicals have nothing but good things to say about the Nurses who graduate from here. And they have a higher NCLEX passage rate than 4 year programs. So what I'm basically saying is "why should ANY of us have to deal with being at that campus?" We deserve better. I expect better. Never stand for the substandard.
