Hi everyone,

Was curious to see if anyone is applying for Wayne State's accelerated program for 2017. What are your GPAs for applying? Any current students in the program that can offer any tips or advice? Thanks!

I have not heard anything back yet. I have a 3.9ish GPA on the prereqs, but I'm currently taking microbiology. I'm not sure if that will slow down the acceptance or not.

Right after I made that last post i received an email that I was conditionally accepted into the spring/summer 2017 accelerated program! Just have to pass microbiology now!

Same! I just received my email not too long ago for admission to the Spring term for the CD2 program.

Congratulation getting in the CD2 Spring/Summer 2017. I too received the acceptance email yesterday March 13. I completed all my prereqs. Now just waiting for the next email from them about for further instruction. Will see you on April 21st orientation day!

To those of you that received your acceptance notifications for the 2017 year, can you please tell me if you have any volunteer hours and if so how many and so forth? Also, are any of you "older?!" I will be 38 when I apply and plan to have everything done and just wondering what I should work on beyond a solid GPA. Any advice would be helpful. Maybe we can identify some trends of acceptance among ourselves.

Has anyone applied to WSU CDO with one prereq missing? I'm applying for spring/summer 2018. Do they favor students that take their prereqs at the university? I took all of my prereqs a few years ago at OCC and I'll be taking Micro bio at schoolcraft college in January 2018. I'm wondering if my grades are good enough to get in?

Good day, can I ask how much is the cost for the nursing program at Wayne State University? Do they have an assistance program? Did you opt for a student loan? Are you working at the same time? Are the classes doable to be able to work at the same time? Thank you.

I just got accepted to the CD2 Spring/Summer 2020 cohort and would like any opinions, advice. Anything would help. I currently live on the west coast and will have to move there. Any advice with that. I’m also nervous about the bad reputation Michigan has. Some people are trying to convince me not to go to this school. Should I worry? Maybe reconsider attending this school? Please help!

Hello! Congratulations on your acceptance into the program! I am currently in the 2019 CD2 cohort at WSU and I am from Seattle. I will say that depending on which part of the West Coast you are coming from you may have varying degrees of adjustments to make to the city of Detroit! I have lived here for six years now and I will say that I am still going to go back to Seattle when I graduate in December. It is very different out here but there is a lot to love: fireflies in the Summer, warm wind, very green gardens and parks, extremely friendly people, unbeatable radio, R&B, clean and clear Lake Michigan water on the west side, and an appreciation for a different cultural conglomeration than is typical of the west coast. Those things and more are very nice about Michigan. The city of Detroit is still what it is but it is getting nicer every year, that is certain. As for WSU, you will have access to TOP notch Professors that care very much about your ability to graduate and pass the NCLEX. Every class is designed around you achieving those goals. While the simulation models and rooms and the hospitals you have clinicals in may not be very high tech or new and shiny you will learn how to nurse a pretty unheathy population using minimal supplies and will learn way more tricks of the trade than you would if you went to a high tech fancy school in the middle of a wealthy city. I find this experience invaluable and appreciate every minute of it that I get. Welcome to MI and to WSU*
