Any 2nd degree students or Oakwood Hospital workers?

U.S.A. Michigan

Hi all:) I am a 2nd degree student at Oakland University, hoping to get into their fall program with Oakwood hospital. The thing is, I have to interview with both the school and the hospital. My interview with the hospital (Oakwood in Dearborn) is coming up and I am super excited. However, I don't know what to expect. I would love to hear from anyone who has worked there and gone through an interview with them, or anyone who has had their clinicals through them......or, I know MSU has had programs through them also. :):):) I would just be grateful for any input on their interview process and/or what it is like to work there.

I hope someone is out there, and I thank you in advance.

I was wondering if one of you could tell me the application deadline for the fall program with Oakwood? I can't find it on their website. I had ruled out OU because of the distance from my house, but Oakwood hospital is not very far so I would like more information. I'll probably go to the information meeting next week, but any info sooner would be appreciated!

OU never advertised that they were having the fall program. I had actually applied for May, but there were too many carry overs from the Jan. applications. I guess it was this past Dec. that they finally made arrangements with Oakwood to do the program. To be honest I think it will probably be filled up from their pool of applicants that they had for the spring. You can e-mail a lady name OU 2nd degree advisor to find out information about it. I think she's actually the one who does the information meetings. I can tell you that their Jan. program is done mostly at Macomb Community College, possibly their next spring one will be done again through St. Johns Conner Creek which is in Detroit. And perhaps they'll run the Oakwood one again next year????

Good luck to you:)

Thanks for the info. I'll probably still go to the info meeting next week. I live in Livonia, so MCC would be quite a hike for me!

Good luck to you, too!

The cool thing is that if you can apply for the Jan. program, and say you don't get in, you have top priority for the spring program (which hopefully it will be at St. Johns again). It's hard to get some answers out of the adviser. However, she always responds to e-mail. The information meeting will be good for you. I know for sure that the sooner you get those core 5 classes out of the way, the better. Apply as soon as possible and as soon as you get those 5 classes done get your transcripts in. I know for a fact it helps. People got into this program with lower gpa's than mine because they had those 5 core classes out of the way last summer (I still had to take fall classes), and they applied last summer. I actually love that OU does it that way, but it's odd because they don't advertise it. It helps keep applicants that are qualified rolling through:). I'm gonna pm you too real quick.
