Good morning/night to all who are reading this,
I created this post in the hopes that all applicants applying for the nursing program at Miami dade submit their experience they have had so far and also submit any questions they might have. I'm currently applying for the accelerated option but would like to hear what others are doing in the part time and generic option. A little about me is that I have a BSN in health science (2014) and have taken all the prerequisites with the exception of A&P 2 (which I am retaking in summer b June 22).
Right now my biggest concern is the hesi a2 exam we have to take and making sure i ace it because my science gpa is not so hot right now. I have read prior posts and it seems like A&P is the most challenging section. Has anyone taken it as yet? Your advice would be greatly appreciated. Also I'm worried that after they evaluate my degree they might not take my science subjects and make me re do them ? ? . Has any one's transcript been evaluated yet?
Have you guys added your total score together yet? According to the classes before mine, everyone that got acceptance letters had like an 83 total score or above. I had a like 95 so I wasn't worried but my friend had a 77 so he was very worried he would not get in but I guess not that many people did great that semester because I asked everyone in my class and the lowest person had a 72 or so with a lot of high 70s scores. If they had applied 1 semester before that one, they would not have gotten in since most of the people had high 80s as their admission score. So in other words, what I am trying to say is that don't sweat it, if it's meant for you to go this semester, it will happen.
Oh and MDC sends I believe up to 3 waves of emails, yes they will choose the 25ish top scoring people for say Part time and send them emails, however that same person could have signed up for Full time also and might choose Full time over Part time, so that immediately opens up a spot for the 2nd round of emails, and so on and so forth, which again means you might get lucky if your score isn't super high.
Last note, to calculate your "Admission score", multiply your HESI score by .6 and multiply your GPA by 10 and then add those numbers together.

I went to see my advisor today at the Medical Campus (Olga Quintana--super sweet and extremely helpful!). I asked her about the status of the applications and when acceptance emails will start coming out. She said to keep checking and should be starting next week! I'm so nervous!
I applied to the Accelerated and I have most all immunizations (just need the last round of hep) and background checks because I did the Phlebotomy course this fall. I have my Bachelor's already so I didn't ask them for my immunizations; I just went back to the doctor to try and get my history of immunizations AND got all the necessary vaccines, etc. Just played it safe. My bloodwork showed that I didn't have immunity to hep since I had it the vaccine a long time ago when I was a kid. So I'd say go for a check-up and see what you'd need to get.
