Miami Dade College (MDC) Fall 2012 Full-time/Part-time Nursing program

Published

Hey everyone,

I just wanted to start a thread for people interested in the MDC nursing program for fall 2012. I think if you shared your scores (TEAS V & GPA) and what track your applying to (full-time or part-time), it will give everyone an idea of where they stand.

I will start:

I have a 3.7 GPA and an 81% on the TEAS and looking to apply for the part-time program. I have the option of taking the TEAS 2 more times which I will be doing :)

Congrats to those getting in! I'm looking forward to meeting you FT Homestead folks at orientation :)

Congrats to everyone that got in. :)

Joshsc, I believe we have a good book list on the Generic Fulltime 2011 Thread.

But for first semester, unless things have changed, will look something like this:

Health Assessment -- Physical Examination and Health Assessment by Jarivs (Don't get the most recent edition, get an older one. Trust me). Also!!! Get the pocket guide for this book. It is SOOO awesome for clinicals!

Fundamentals of Nursing by Perry & Potter

Medical Dosage Calculations.... I forgot the Author :(

And I think that's it for 1st semester....

Oh & For skills, you'll need the Nurse Pack sold at the bookstore. You don't need it right away. So don't get it yet. Lol.

I have fundamentals 2 volume book set, offer me a price, practically brand new never been used no writing no highlighting...I'm starting the bridge and dont need this book

So who Else still hasn't gotten the background check email ? I've did mine 3 weeks ago still no email. Got actual results from mdc deans office but nursing dept won't accept it even though the results are on there they said they want the confirmation.....I mean come on ...really......

I am on the same boat. I did mine June 14th. NOTHING!

Is everyone going to have all their medical requirements finished by tomorrow? Is it absolutely mandatory to turn it in tomorrow?

I just contacted the Miami Rescue Mission where I did everything and they are still waiting for the varicella labs. According to them an extension was granted by MDC. I'm going to be double checking just to make sure. As soon as I find out from MDC I will let everyone know about possible extensions.

I was told it is okay to turn everything on Orientation day (whenever your may be)

I called also. It's ok to turn everything in by orientation.
