My recruiter is fabulous! She definitely knows what she's talking about. The non-healthcare recruiters in our local recruiting office, bless their little hearts, are pretty clueless about the Army Nurse Corps and gave me some bad information that was corrected with better information. That's why it's best to deal with the healthcare recruiters, as was mentioned by others in my earlier thread!
In any case, I'm now in the stages of starting to get my paperwork together. I should be able to go in M5 -- directly as an ER nurse. Woo hoo!! I just need my clinical leader to fill out an evaluation of my skills, as well as write a letter endorsing me for ER practice. Then I'll get my three letters of recommendation cooking, as well as start on my 40-whatever page application, my tattoo waiver paperwork, and my motivation statement. I know it's a long process, but I'm excited!! I'm going to do this. :)

Lunah! Where did this come from? You're too young to be having menopausal lapses in mentation! I can't believe this! Your little red-headed caricature in BDUs. Wow!!
I've been contemplating it for a couple of months now. I've long been considering working civil service as an RN, but when I realized that I would actually have my BSN in June while simultaneously NOT be too old to join, it seemed like a smart move for me. And all things considered, I really want to do it, too. :)
I'm kidding you, you know. I started out to be an Army nurse but my nursing school career bombed back then. How I miss not having that Army nurse career. At least you won't have regrets about this. Being in the Army is fun (uh, except for the war zone duty. Just don't think about that sort of stuff).

It's an exciting look at the future Lunah! Good luck. I'm still waiting for my acceptance in the Air Force. It really does take forever. Be ready for the wait. I hold my breath for a phone call on the "magic dates" when we think it will come through. I'm 41 and I am so excited about going back into the service. I was Army enlisted when I was 18 (Lahnstuhl area like we talked about before). I so can't wait to get my commission and call myself Captain! Stay excited. But I would recommend not telling everyone what you're doing. I told just my closest people, and I hate being asked about it while I'm so stressed waiting for my final approval.
Good luck to you -- hope you get that acceptance ASAP!! :) I've only told the people that really need to know -- like those who will be writing my letters of recommendation, etc. I haven't even told my parents, who are probably going to faint. My stepfather was an officer in the Army and is a Vietnam vet, and retired from many years of civil service as well as from the Reserves (O-6). He'll be so thrilled, seriously!!

Hi Lunah, this is probably the wrong place to post this, but I spoke with an Ahmedd recruiter around November 2009 timeframe about joining the ANCP (Army Nurse Candidate Program, since I still have two years left for my nursing degree as of Fall 2010, My recruiter told me late December that the ANCP program was closed until Fiscal Year 2011 (October 2010). I just wanted to verify this information, to make sure I want to stick with this recruiter, I would greatly appreciate if it would be possible for you to verify this statement....
I was told recently that yes, recruiting is closed for this fiscal year. I posted a new thread along the lines of "bummer, more time for me to wait," or something like that. I plan to have my stuff ready for the October board. :)
Thanks for the clarification.

Have you thought about going into the reserves and then transitioning to active duty? I'm pretty sure they are still processing applications for the reserves. Either way good luck.
I did think about it, but I think the timeline works better for me to just go AD -- I still need to focus on finishing my BSN right now, and stressing about selling my house. But thanks for the suggestion, I appreciate all input/advice.
