Not from Des Moines, although i frequently shop there. I've had a couple of friends who graduated from Mercy. Sounds like a great school. Good luck in your adn program !

I am a first year student at Mercy as well. We probably even have classes together.

Hey guys... I live in Ankeny but work at Mercy in Des Moines on a cardiac telemetry floor. Hope you guys enjoy your schooling!

Which floor do you work on? I am going for an interview monday for 9S and 7N. Do you have any inside scoop for me? I'm excited, nervous the whole ball of wax. This will be my first RN job.

I"m trying to figure out what type of clothing to wear for an interview. I have a linen suit but you know how hot is it here right now and I get very hot very easily. Is a nice pair of pants and shirt appropriate?

Thanks for any help you can give me.

Hi Debblynn,

While the weather is hot and humid, I would opt for the linen suit. Hang the jacket in the car until you get to the hospital, then put it on. Also, wear nylons (as much as I hate them, esp in this weather.) Get there early and put them on in the bathroom, so you don't have to suffer in the heat. Closed toed shoes.

I've interviewed hundreds (in another health related industry) over the years and always appreciate when an applicant shows up looking as professional as possible.

Don't forget extra copies of your resume and credentials - tho they probably have copies, they will ask... I think it is easier for the interviewer to ask the applicant for a copy than track one down from HR.

Good luck!

Let us know how the interview goes... DSM is a great city!

BTW, I've heard traffic is horrendous due to construction and a few conventions. Leave plenty of time to get there and find parking.
