Nurses Men

for those of you that are married to a nurse or your partner is a nurse how do you guys work so that you both get to spend time togeather but give each other space to sleep and recharge the batteries. being single for the last 8 yrs all ive had to think about was myself.

since getting back togeather (*long story but a good one) or times of work are just right out of wack with each other. i work full time night duty and she works mostly monday to friday am/ pm shifts. i also work most weekends. over the last 2 months we have both be just run down....... i should add we live 400km apart and its a good 5hr drive for me to get down to see her, which ive been doing on all my days off. im always tired or overtired and cant seem to sleep, i usually only get about 4 hrs sleep a day, she on the other hand likes a good 8-10hrs sleep. damn thats a good 2 -3 days sleep for me. the good thing is im only 9 shifts away from 8 weeks holidays and when i return to work im changing my roster to have the same days off as im sure that will work better for us.

so do you gusy have any tips????

**** now for the background. we dated back at uni and broke up a year after she finished...im 4 years older. it wasnt a bad break up but i was devistated and just didnt want any contact and for 11 yrs we had no cantact until this year when i recieved an email from her. so we met up again and hit things off. its like a big second chance that i never thought would come around again....ohh and over those 11 yrs i thought about her every day. im just wanting this to work, were both a little older and wiser so i hope it does work.

My wife is a civilian nurse & I an active duty Army nurse. We don't work in the same hospital, but do live together and are able to [most of the time] have the same weekends off. She has about a 10 minute drive to work, whereas it takes about 20-30 minutes for me to get to work.

I cannot imagine the two of you living a 5 hr drive apart. That is the #1 issue, IMHO.

yeah i hear you with the above comment. theres one major snag, she is from the city and im from the country. im willing to move i just dont know how i would go in the city. ( i have lived there before for 9 months and didnt like it) i am thinking of bigger country towns that are closer.....1 1/2 to 2 hrs away which would be much better but not ideal
