  1. Is it normal that my school doesn't teach us IVs?

I was just wondering if I could possibly get a monkey to come by at this hour and place a new IV on my patient scheduled for the OR tomorrow. Since multiple nurses including myself have already tried, I think it's time to call in a monkey. Wish we ha...
  2. Is it normal that my school doesn't teach us IVs?

Opps, quoted wrong person. But I fixed it!
  3. Doctor stole my stethoscope

Yup! Our facility is supposed to call them WOWs now. I was told a bariatric patient complained to client relations. I guess this is a common accurance. However, everyone still calls them COWs. We are such rebels! The computers on wheels, not the bari...
  4. Starting school at older age! :(

I was 33 when I graduated nursing school. The oldest guy in our class was mid 60's. And the youngest was 18 when we started our journey. However, we were all in it together. Age is truly just a number.

  8. I personally would recommend the ADN route if money is an issue. I also had a BA, and was still paying off those loans. I got my ADN, for about $12,000. I was hired 5 months after graduation in a hospital that pays for tuition after 6 months of emplo...
  9. I can understand being disappointed in your assignment, but I am a true believer in letting things take their course. I hope that you will get an amazing preceptor and a great unit that will make the extra drive worthwhile. I had a similar experienc...
  10. New Nurse; No experience; Help

So true! And sometimes it feels like drowning! Even though I graduated at the top of my class, when I walked onto my unit as a new grad last month it became very evident that meant nothing when it comes to actually working as an RN. You summed it up,...
  11. Administering Tylenol to a friend

This is extraordinary! I love it! Thank you! So this was supposed to be a response to one of the jokes I found quite hilarious. However, clearly I was supposed to use the "quote" button instead of "reply". Apparently, in even the forum world I'm su...
  12. Hi, I was just wondering if you had ever considered working for an company that specializes in the care of individuals with developmental disabilities? They often times have nurses in the Residential and Day Habilatation programs. If you are working ...
