  1. RRT New Grad

Job market is tough for any type of new grad. I would take a job as an RT then transition to nursing. At least the RT position will get you some experience and make transitioning into RN easier. It might be tough for you to land a job with Independen...
  2. Continue...question military spouse

Sorry for typo, I meant you wouldn't as long as you hold at least one license in any of the 50 states and us territory. And yes it's unfortunate that I have to travel back to the states for a weekend but it won't be the first time. Lol, had to do it ...
  3. Continue...question military spouse

I have to come to the states for CPNE. They have designated sites. Yea, it's a bummer that EC is not accepted everywhere but if you work for a military hospital that wound be a problem for you. I hope it works out.
  4. Continue...question military spouse

I already took a workshop and have lots of study material, just waiting on a date. It's not hard to get those test done in 7 months, only thing that will hold you up is FCCA since its now a 8 wk course. Are u in the program yet? Are u a LPN? Here's m...
  5. Continue...question military spouse

I took all of my theory exams overseas. Most military bases have a testing site but there were times when I had to delay testing because the site was closed or I would have to drive to another base. If you are in mainland Japan then you'll have up to...
  6. Question military spouse

I am not quite through with EC. I am waiting for a date for CPNE. That is the last thing left for me to do. It took me a year to complete all the nursing theory classes. I have been eligible for CPNE since Sept last year but I didn't have a valid CPR...
  7. Respiratory Therapist Bridge to RN through Excelsior

I am a RRT waiting for a CPNE date. The program is doable but much different from respiratory. It's all about finding good study habits and support. Good luck
  8. Question military spouse

I just landed a contract position with the Naval hospital here in Guam. The position is RT but they also have RN positions so after my contract is up, I'm going to get a RN contract. Good luck with your PCS...I hope you get somewhere great.
  9. Question military spouse

My husband is in the Marine Corps but attached to the Navy base since there is no Marine Corps base in Guam. We just got here and the work opportunities are much better than Japan. Plus it's paradise and who can argue with that.
  10. Question military spouse

Good luck because my husband got orders to Japan and I spent two years out of work. I have a degree in respiratory and MBA, both degrees did me no good there plus oversees GS jobs are difficult to get. Depending on where you are stationed and the nee...
  11. Info on EC, I live in Illinois

Jerry maybe you can apply for license in Missouri but work in VA hospital in Springfield. Most fed run hospitals only need you to have one license in the US. Since commuting doesn't work for you.
  12. Health Safety....

I would read the required chapters in Taylors fundamentals book. SG101 doesn't go into detail esp. For nursing process. Good luck and smart move to slow down!
  13. Info on EC, I live in Illinois

Jerry, how far are you from Indiana or Wisconsin or any other bordering state? I would recommend you apply for licensure in a bordering state, get a job there to get your RN license experience. Illinois board will not accept your LPN experience as nu...
  14. A New Beginning

Welcome and congratulation on taking such a big step. I recommend that you read the community board for the nursing exams on EC website once you have been accepted in the program. They are loaded with info, tips, and support. Good luck!
  15. Passed CPNE at Grady on 05/04/2012!!

CMLPN now RN thank you for the advice! I'm currently living in Japan (husband is stationed here) and I was very curious about the online workshop but felt nervous about it. It would cost me a small fortune to travel all the way to Atlanta for Sherri ...
