I am glad I can provide laughs! We will really need it during the stressful times approaching. A master littmann! I am envious! That is a really good stethescope based on the reviews I read on it. I want one too, but I'm just gonna have to wait. yea, sleep. I have been trying to get into bed no later than midnight, but than restlessness sets in, and so I read, watch a movie, or browse the internet. I'm just going to have to learn the hard way come Monday. It's pretty unanimous on my end as well, that Parkland is not pretty, but boy will you get the BEST learning opportunity and just about see everything. I tell those that say its not pretty, give it two more yrs when the new building is up, and we will be just as "pretty" on the outside as on the inside, lol.

    3 days!!!

That's great to hear Babigrl, when I got my scrubs 2 weeks ago, I felt that much closer to being a Parkland nurse. I have got to say I love that we can choose between royal blue on royal blue or royal blue top on black pants. I got all 3 sets blue on black. What kind of Littmann did you get? I will still be using my lightweight Littmann. My trauma shears recently came in the mail, and my first thought is how in the world will that fit in my pocket???? I think my shears a tad too big. I think I got the 7 in. I may have to carry a fanny pack around will all my little gadgets, lol. btw, I am totally kidding about the fanny pack.

Wow, 28! That's incredible. I really like that because I won't feel so lost by myself, lol. Hopingicu, I already got my scrubs. I only got 3 sets for now, and when I need more I will buy more. My favorite style is Greys Anatomy. The fabric is super soft, and very flattering. As for other things, I bought me really comfy sneakers, have my Littmann steth. from school, mini light, trauma shears, notebook to take notes, my recorder from school (for lengthy lectures, lol), mini notebook that fits in pocket, mini calculator (not sure if we can use our phone calculator). Oh, and not to mention my sense of humor... Can't think of anything else. What else can u think of that I'm missing??

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I remember them saying there were 25 ER spots, that's not counting the other critical care areas. So, yea it will be a HUGE group of us.

I am getting up extra early in order not to risk being late. I'm super excited! I just need to train my brain into getting used to going to sleep early again.

I hear ya Babigrl, I would be lost without this site. Well, I just received an email from my recruiter. It basically has a map of the hospital, directions, the I9 doc, and a welcome to Parkland letter. I'm assuming that is what u have in ur new hire folder. So excited!!! I'm about to read everything now.

lol, I completely agree with you Kimmy! and thank you babigrl! I called my recruiter and she said that in the next few days we should receive info regarding what to expect... She did confirm that monday is business casual and the rest of the week we can wear scrubs. If its the tax form that I dont have, I am sure it can wait til monday.

This dream of mine is seriously about to start; 6 more days!!!!

Wow, I must have really missed something. After I submitted my vaccination record, got my tb done and looked at, and drug test, I was sent on my way. I was not given any folder. I'm going to call my recruiter tomorrow and inquire on the new hire folder and see if I missed vital info or if it can wait til Monday. This is upsetting. :/

Wow, thanks. You are really informed. I think I may be out of the loop... how did u get that info.?

Thanks Babigrl, that's nice to know. Have you gotten any more information about where we are meeting, what time, just general info? I decided if I don't get an email by Wednesday or Thursday, I will call my recruiter.

    That's awesome Shiner50!! Congrats!

Babigrl, do you think we will be able to wear our scrubs the first week or probably business professional? I dont want to call on that because its kinda a silly question, lol...

That is great that you called and inquired on more information. I have been meaning to call, but never got around to it. My husband laughs at me because I am already in "study mode". I cant help it, lol. I have been out of school for 9 months now, so I definitely needed a refresher. I gotta read you a quote from the book that had me laughing, "if you have a patient who is hallucinating, do NOT touch the patient". Hmm, really, cause that was my first thought, oh yes, lets get wacked by an unstable psych. patient today.

The 24th is right around the corner Parkland peeps!
