Dansko's are my favorite by a long margin. Hope you find something that works for you.
I have about the same build and the Gray's Anatomy really work for me. Sorry they don't work as well for you.
I agree with bcandygurl about the financial assistance. Look around, ASN offers many FA opportunities.
Started as a CNA as well, and had some pretty harsh working conditions (like a lot of the other posters above), which at the time I thought I 'hated'. Looking back on it though, the experience was well worth it to me. It exposed me to what the medical world is really like. Now that I am an RN, I sometimes say and think some of the same things... just get paid a 'little' more lol.
Wow.... first I have heard of this. What a devastating story, thanks for sharing the link.
I use Avon foot cream as a hand cream; works wonders
I keep this handy during the day, and I slather it on at night. Much improvement.
Your job description is whatever your employer says it is unless you have it written out in a contract. I signed up for the STICU, but I can't refuse to be pulled to other floors.
Before I read any other comments posted here, I stopped first to respond to your questions. There AINT no way in hell I'd work for someone who had the authority to mandate overtime in my life on a job. If a place of employment has a policy of such, I do NOT work for them. I happen to have a life, and I don't intend to spend it all on a job.
Low census here as well.... seems like I float more than work my 'normal' job. It's better than nothing I guess
Unfortunately, the same programs that were designed to help people pay for tuition has made tuition unmanageable.
I'm new here too, and just wanted to say sorry about the family issues. But, from what I have seen allnurses is a very nice place to call home. Wish I would've found it sooner.
Major congrats on your graduation! Good luck in your endeavors.
I think there is just a natural aversion to this that we all need to get past. Like Green Tea said, best advice is just to act like you have been there before, and if you can't do that... fake it until you become more comfy. You'll get there
Nursing school is just something you have the endure. Maybe someday there will be enough men in nursing to change things.
