Got accepted into the fall '18 PMHNP-DNP program at Rush, trying to connect with others in my cohort!

I live in Atlanta and I just graduated in July. Fortunately, I was just hired into a New Grad Program last week!! I have had only 4 interviews after applying to practically everything I could find. In every case but the last, they hired someone with experience, which was always discouraging.

As far as major Atlanta hospitals go (Emory, Piedmont, Northside, Tenent, St. Joseph), the firm response that I've received is that they only hire new graduates into their new graduate programs, the only exceptions being scholarship students or students who did externships there. Even then, these new graduates can fill up the program spots, leaving fewer spots for less-connected new grads.

Overall, I would say that the market for Atlanta new grads looking to get into a hospital is very competitive.

    Quote from nursefreak1
How much does kinkos charge for that? I think that is a great idea!
Our books are enough to set you up for back surgery!
I paid $11 for kinkos to debind and drill holes in three very large nursing books. I carry all of the chapters for the next test around with me, so that I can read up whenever I want, plus I have all of the notes with me. It all fits in a 1.5 inch binder-very light.

I got in (traditional program). The last semester on standby and now finally in for the Spring 2013. Congratulation to everyone who got in and to those who didn't: don't give up, apply again, and stay persistent.

Desir80's, Keep moving forward. I'm sure you will get in for Fall. I started this process in 2001, and life got in the way for quite a few years, but I'm back and am finally accepted for accelerated in Spring. I had to retake a lot of classes because they were too old (imagine taking your A&Ps twice!), but I just kept looking forward and praying for the best. Do the same and you will reach your goals. If I can do this at my age, I know you can!

I got an acceptance to traditional program! Mail came late today. I am in west cobb, marietta. Good Luck all! Standby is still a good chance. There are people that applied to other schools that won't come to KSU and also people that may not get all pre reqs done as anticipated.

Hello, everyone! I'm also new to the board and admit to lurking around here for a bit. I just received my acceptance letter to the accelerated program; I've been running up and down to the mail box all day. I can't wait to meet you all! For those of you that are still waiting, good luck! The wait is awful, maybe a little too awful, but it's worth it.

I definitely do not think that that is the case! There are lots of people with great stats on here who haven't gotten their letters yet. Every post office is different and some are sllloooowww. I would not discourage yourself because you haven't gotten your letter yet. Like another poster said, her postal worker told her friday's mail would get to her on Wednesday. I still think many of us will get acceptance letters. By numbers alone, more than the people who have said they got letters would have to get in to make the 80%. Keep that in mind.

I live in Acworth and I got my letter for the traditional program just a little while ago. Good luck to all of you - this waiting was just brutal!

Hi everyone...I've been lurking here for a few months but have never posted. I, like all of us, have been anxiously awaiting "the letter" and it came today. I got accepted to the accelerated program! I live in Dunwoody if that helps any of you trying to figure out when yours will come. Best of luck to everyone and I look forward to meeting you soon

I haven't commented here before but I did get my letter today and I got accepted to the traditional program. I live right down the street from campus so maybe that's why I got mine today. I hope everyone gets their letters soon!
