    hello everyone,
forensic nursing is something ive been interested in for a very long time...ive been reading some of the posts.......i see that some nurses work in the ER...is that the only place you can be ??
And i also read that you should have ED experience....i grduated nursing school a few months ago...i got a job in a hospital on a med surg floor and i absolutely hated it...i lasted 2 months...so now im thinking of just following my gut..will i be able 2 start in forensic nursing without the experience???
    TIA

Hi Kaliope, if you're Greek you will know that many Greeks call their Kaliopes "Popi" and if you're not Greek that's OK too. Welcome to the allnurses.com. We love to hear from everybody!!!

hi tperk...i just started nursing school....(first semester) i am only taking nursing courses i dont know if u will be taking other courses along with nursing..like have u done your anatomy courses?etc....if not i recommend u get that all out of your way before you start...the hrs eem short but theres alot of studying and then come your care plans and nutrition assesments(not that bad).anyway i have 2 days clinical and 2 days in the classroom ...my clins r from 8 to 12 but u have to be there earlier to talk with ur professor and then in the end again to discuss what happened with your patient..it sabout a half hour...i wish u luck...there r days i feel like there just throwing too much info at me and my head is gonna spin off but deep down i love it ......if its in u and i know it must be from ur post ull be fine ,,,ur so busy itll go by quick
again......I WISH U ALL THE LUCK

    hi
im only new but i can tell u that ive been through all those little books in the medical section in Barnes and Noble in NY...i agree with Rayrae...RNotes is great ...there is so much info in there about everything that everytime i look in i find smthg else....another pcket guide that might help u is the Nurse's Pocket Drug Guide it has over 1000 commonly used meds...all the abbreviations, classifications, there are also helpful tables in the back....they give u the drug warning, uses,actions,dose(adults/peds), supplied, interactions, cautions, contraind, labs,NIPE ....the ISBN is 0-07-144056-9 and it costs 9.95...the RNotes costs around 22$
    hope this helps

    hi everyone

my name is Kaliope, i just started nusing school in NJ...i must say i love it AND feel completely overwhelmed at times . i think this is a great site, i have been reading posts for a while but had never registered....its sooo good to know that i'm not alone because sometimes i feel like i am.i look forward to participating and sharing my stories.
one question: how do u get that pic under your username?...and the quotes that come in the end???
    see u all around
oh one more thing . i just want to see if this is the same everywhere..im in my first semester, and my pharmacology class is 55 minutes long which i find rediculous, by the time our prof starts and by the time we start understanding its time to go ....and its by far my worst class...i just dont get how Art appreciation is 1hr and 30 mins long and pharm is 55 mins.....i know its only 1 credit but still i find it too short...anybody else??
