I literally submitted the deposit asap. I didnt want to wait that long... Im sure they count the 2 weeks. They usually do this because if you don't they will look at someone else from the waiting list and accept them. ''/
[FONT=century gothic]Wow you received your letter late. Once you submit the $500.00 ( which ISN'T refundable) you will need to complete the background check, drug screening, and fbi check to America Data Bank ( Its $165.00) after that, you will need to pay $300.00 to admissions since you will be a new UM student. After paying the $500 and $165 you will receive an e-mail, letting you know where you can purchase scrubs, shoes, & penlights. Also you will need to keep all your immunizations up to date. There is a facebook page you can log into right now for more information. I believe it's called UM Accelerated BSN Nursing Summer 2012. Best of luck!
Hello! I just got the letters today about submission of the $500 non-refundable fee. To clear everyone's mind, $300 is for the admissions office if you are new to the school and $500 to the Nursing school to secure your spot. Hope this helps!
Hi Kamryn10! I wouldn't mind giving you a tour at all! I have a week off from work this month and Ill probably be doing all the necessary inquiries for school that week. CPR must be done with Heart Association and I believe it has to be the Healthcare provider section of it. If MDC has that exact class Ill definitely take it too.
I also found the page on facebook that has been made.
It's called " UM Accelerated BSN Nursing Summer 2012". Copy and paste it onto your search bar if you or anyone have trouble looking for it, let me know!!
[FONT=century gothic]For anyone that is interested in looking for a great safe and affordable place to live by school, "LIKE" www.facebook.com/JessicaRESF page. She is a University of Miami Alumni with experience in student rental apartments and other specific areas. Hope this helps everyone commuting long distances or from out-of-state!
Hey Chesca! My close friends that graduated with me at UM are real estate agents! If you need their information, let me know! Hope all works well!
[FONT=century gothic]Oh also... deposit is $300 right? My friend that also got accepted told me he payed that... I think last years was $500... Not sure. Let me know!
That awesome! I also know a couple of people as well lol. Hopefully we'll be fine with the advice of our fellow nursing friends. Are you originally from Miami, F.L? Will you be commuting from a long distance?
Thank you Kamryn10! Much appreciated information. I did call admissions but noone was able to give me answer. I left an email to an advisor that can hopefully give me an answer tomorrow. If not Ill just leave work early tommorrow and figure it out then. Do you mind if I ask what type of information your package had? e.g; cost of books, scrubs, tuition, etc?
Hi Danceluver! Ive heard many pros and cons about the program but everyone has their own story to write about in Nursing school. We can all go through these experiences differently. Its definitely a very tough program and we will all be having application questions in our exam that can at times be difficult. Some people are good at it and some aren't... But we all experience it differently as long as we pass and survive it we'll be good. I just know for a fact that University of Miami has the highest NCLEX rating in South Florida. I believe UF is #1 in Florida but either way we are in good hands. If you or anyone have any more questions...You can join my thread at https://allnurses.com/fl-nursing-pro...ml#post6198392...
[FONT=century gothic]You know what Kamryn? I can't either... I didn't make the Facebook page nor knows who made it but I saw posted the other day. I'll make my own tomorrow morning and send ya all the link. I still haven't gotten my package nor have made the deposit. But Ill call tomorrow morning to see if it's possible if I can do it asap. I hope you get the scholarship! Best of Luck! Lets see when we call all meet!
Yes I do! I have a couple of friends that have graduated from the program. I heard you need to purchase them at the UM bookstore or with the company the school will give you. I dont think you can get another company brand. They are very strict when it comes to dress code in the hospital. Plus the scrubs have the UM logo on it and its mandatory to have it in your scrubs. I think the only thing you can probably save money on is books if you find out which ones are the needed for the program. I hope this info helps! Best of luck! Ill give you a tour anytime!
Yes, areas that are close to school & the metro-rail are Coral Gables, Sunset, and South Miami. All great areas. The program begins May 16, 2012. Let me ask my friend if she has anything available for that month. Im sure she does but Ill have to check with her!
Hi!! Yes I was born and raised in Miami, F.L. Miami is a city where theres a lot of culture & diversity. The weather is usually always warm & sunny and a great place to go to school! Apartments are usually a bit expensive but if you find a roommate Im sure splitting the cost can be affordable. Thats the price for living in a expensive city. I don't know anyone that is looking for a roommate. But if I do I will message you personally. I have a friend that is a real estate agent and she can gladly help you find a place. Any more questions, don't hesitate to ask!
Hi fellow classmates! Heres a new thread that we can use to update each other about the program. There is also a Facebook page titled "UM Accelerated Nursing Program Summer 2012" If any questions, ask and please forward to anyone waiting for their status or to those new students that will be starting the program!
