Hi there! I came across your post while searching interview tips for Grady in Atlanta and was wondering if you have anything to share? I have an interview tomorrow for an ICU position and wanted to get an idea of interview question and the structure of it? Any info would help!! Thank you
Yes, I can confirm that too! The school is really pretty and clean! I'm sure you will like it. I'm not sure yet either but I'm probably going to try and stretch out as long as I can because I really am going to miss being in atl...but it's ok the move will be worth it and it's not forever. I'm gonna start apt hunting too. When I did my interview they mentioned streets and areas to avoid so when i get home I can send you that info if you want so it can help with your search too?
Yes I will definitely cheers to that!!! Lol. Yeah we definitely will have to be there sooner. I believe they have orientations that start in June, where you can meet with an advisor and make your schedule, and tour the campus etc etc. When do you guys plan on making the move Birmingham?
Yeah I think so too :-) And I'm so glad to hear you guys are coming too!!! So have you already sent your deposit etc? And do you know when classes actually start? I've been trying to look on their website but could not find it Lol. I think it's the last week of August, is that what you found too if any? Also, what was your previous degree in? Mine was in Comm which was a waste of time lol but thank God I got the chance to go back for nursing which is what I've always wanted to do!! So excited!!
Hey there! So I found out that I'm waitlisted for the school in DC...but I'm def not going to wait for them. My choice is going to be to attend Samford :-) so I'm going to send my deposit and confirm my spot there!! Have you and your friend decided yet?
OMG yay!!! Thats so good to hear!!! I knew you were going to get in as well! So I'm guessing you guys are both going there? As of right now Samford is my top pick, so it's looking like we will be able to meet and be classmates!!! When are you going to decided?
Glad to hear you feel good about it! I knew you would be fine :-) Was it weird doing it via skype? And that is so cool to hear about your friend that also applied! Hopefully we all get to be there together! Did you send them a thank you card or email after the interview? As for the prereqs that you still have to take, did they say you can take them in the summer? I still have to take the patho class too ugh, if I decide to go to Samford! I'll probably take it with them online because I don't plan to relocate until August. Keep me posted on when you and your friend hear back!! I'm still waiting to hear from the other 2 schools unfortunately so I'm praying I hear something soon!
Hi! So how did your interview with Samford go?
Yep I totally agree! I definitely understand about moving to Birmingham, but I'm looking at it like where ever I go even if it's not the best location I can always leave as soon as I'm done, so I'll have to sacrafice for a little over a yr....but I know change can be a little scary, especially coming from two different states like Cali and Alabama lol. The campus was really pretty and easy to find once I got into town. It's located in their "suburbs" lol so it was in a good area and just a beautiful campus, I will give them that. The campus seemed a little quiet, but I didn't take a tour or walking around much. Just observed while I was ther for that hour and a half. It's always great to have options. I'm still waiting to hear back from a cple more schools so hopefully that will be soon.
Thank you!! And I'm sure you are def going to get a letter too! Just be yourself, and show personality and be truthful with your answers. They all are really nice and take pride in knowing their students etc. Please keep me posted! As for paying for school, def gonna take out a loan, but I'm okay with that because I didn't have school loans in undergrad so if I have to this time around I'm going to try and take out the minimum. I hate debt! Lol. What about you? Also, any other acceptances? Are you really considering Samford? I know you had mentioned you also got a few other acceptances.
Hey there!! Sorry for the late response, just now getting your post. But the interview went really well. I actually had it bumped up to this Monday and met with 2 faculty members who were super nice and very welcoming. The interview lasted a little over an hour and the next day got an acceptance email!!!! :-) I was couldn't believe how quick they emailed me. You have nothing to worry about. They ask the typical questions why nursing, what makes you a good candidate to be a nurse, asked about my finances (as far as how I intend to pay for school, nothing too detailed though), why the change in careers etc. What time is your interview?
Thank you!! And thanks for posting the link, I'm going to def check it out! :-)
LOL yeah that definitely is going to be really intense! Cost and passing rate is definitely important. As for the being in the south, it'll def be different for you i'm sure but I think it will also be a good experience just because you will be exposed to different things. But yes, please keep me posted and I will do the same! I also found out today that I got into Bellarmine University in Kentucky!! Which is a great start for me because i'm still waiting to hear back from the other schools I applied to in dc, nj, ct, atl and fl. I'll keep you posted! Good luck with everything!!
Oh yeah I looked at Drexel too! What do you know about their program? What's making you lean more towards them? I actually don't live in Alabama, I live in FL but you coming from LA is definitely going to be different for you coming to the south lol. But I read Samford is located more in the suburbs of Birmingham so that should be nice and not so much in the country. But for me location is whatever, I just want to get into a good school and program especially since they are accelerated programs.
That's great! Congrats! Having options are always great!! I don't know anyone specifically that attended Samford unfortunately but when I've mentioned the name to others they always have good things to say about it. I really only know what I've read. I also applied to GW in DC so I'm still waiting to hear back from them which I would love to attend. What are you leaning more towards?
