I think the pre-reqs are the same at both schools. I'm not sure which is harder to get into, but at CSULB there were more than 1,700 applicants for the nursing program and less than 90 were accepted. At orientation I was told that 21,000 students applied for the university and only 4,000 were accepted. You must be accepted into the nursing program and the university.

Not sure what your grade are like, but you must have at least a 3.0 GPA to apply. I think it's pretty deceiving because you will probably need straight A's in your sciences and the golden 4: speech, English, critical thinking, math (stats) to be competitive. You may be able to get by with 1 or 2 B's, but you will need to score high on your TEAS.

I recommend that you set up an appointment with a transfer "nursing" counselor at your CC. Attached below are links for both schools. Good Luck, feel free to PM me if you have any other questions.

    Spiff,

"In progress" should be fine, but what I recommend is to put the approximate date of when it will be completed. I spoke to CM about my hep B #3 (will do in Dec) and the flu shot (in Sept.) She told me to upload missing doc forms with the approx. dates of completion. As far as uploading, I would assume that you can upload on the 30th.

I really wouldn't worry about it. They probably set these deadlines so that we don't wait until the last minute. Just be sure to complete your Magnus by the 30th.

Yeah, I'm having a tough time keeping up with work and my summer classes! I guess welcome to the nursing program. We better get used to it.

Clueless: I have not gotten that far yet, but I was wondering who we put down as our instructor. Is it the clinical or class instructor?

Thanks for the info. I guess I will continue to wait patiently or at least try to!

Has anyone signed up for SOAR workshop? If so, they are offering 2 different day "all majors" and "College of health & human services," should we choose one over the other?

Hey everyone...congrats to you all who got accepted into CSULB. If you have any specific questions about the first semester, feel free to send me a private message. I can forward you the first few chapters you need to read, so you're ahead of the game, and I HIGHLY recommend you read before classes start...Our first day was "orientation," but was really orientation and two lectures the first few weeks are pretty stressful, so if your prepared before hand, it will be an easy transition to the wonderful world of nursing school. Unfortunately I'm going to be moving away from Long Beach for personal reasons, but really wish i could continue my nursing studies at CSULB.

    Best of luck
    I sent you a PM.

Does anyone know how financial aid works? I checked my CSULB email and was of course denied for financial aid. I was offered an unsub loan, so I will be taking the loan to cover my 1st semester. A co-worker told me that I can ask for income reduction/modification after I start my program because I will no longer be working. I plan on will take loans all the way through, but if I can get some help why not.
