  1. Language etiquette?

I would like to learn the language spoken there but I know I would be doing it so I know what they are saying. I love languages anyway. I have tried to learn Hangul (Korean language) but I don't have anyone to talk to in that llanguage. I will see ...
  2. Language etiquette?

BuckybadgerRN, RN, it's all good :-)
  3. Language etiquette?

I absolutely agree with you in theory. Many facilities would not allow it in the "on stage" setting in the hospital unless a patient needed a translator. I think it's more than OK to talk in any other language when it is in the break room or a small ...
  4. Language etiquette?

Corporate has a policy that is against it but it has not been enforced. Either people have complained and were not heard or they have not complained to management . Sigh and changing jobs is not that simple. I think that the emotion and frustratio...
  5. Language etiquette?

I have a dilemma would like some feedback. I have been working in a facility for over a year where the majority speaks a second language. A lot of people who were not in the majority have either moved on to other jobs or work another shifted. Many ...
  6. Nurses who can't find work.

Sorry I was saying "AMEN:yes:" to this. It seems to be all about the almighty dollar and not about the right way to get high patient satisfaction scores.
  7. Nurses who can't find work.

    AMEN!
  8. Discrimination Against ER Nurses?

Dave, the best advice/encouraging words for you would be to: 1) hang in there. It is hard for experienced nurses to find work. The climate has changed for healthcare and recruiting. Even if many are aware of it, doesn't make it less painful. 2) Consi...
  9. I have started at a new facility. I am not a new nurse, just new to the facility. A patient had a very high blood sugar. I had never seen the BS this high for the patient. I rechecked it to make sure it was not a false high, but it went higher (not b...

Thank you. I will take your advice!
  11. Experienced nurse trying to find work in the NY/NJ area

    Is there anyone out there?
  12. Hi, I need to move to NJ by July so I can be closer to family (and my lease is up). I have a total of (approx) 9 years of nursing experience, most experience in inpatient rehab. I really want to get into critical care. So far I applied to a few hospi...
  13. Things you'd LOVE to tell coworkers...and get away with it!

To the passive -aggresive nurse I have to give report to:Do you really think you are helping me by staring at,me with contempt because I dont' seem to do things just like you? You may think I have no clue what you are thinking of me, but I am not jus...
  14. I have been working as a home care nurse since July 2011. I worked in the hospital for 7 years and was tired of the rush and lack of time with patients. I really like home care, but I am struggling to keep up with paperwork and juggle work/home life...
  15. Things you'd LOVE to tell coworkers...and get away with it!

Trust me it can be done and be very clean. I had braids and would wash them every few weeks. IF I did it more frequently, my hair and scalp would be very dry. Not everyone's hair gets oily and dirty that it needs to be washed every day.
