We use Children's Medical Ventures Bendy Bumpers, but are having a problem with them breaking after a short period of useage. It is only with the large size in which the rod is breaking. The company tells us that no one else has this problem. Is anyone else dealing with this issue? They are too expensive for us to have to replace them after 6 months of use. Does anyone have any advice?
We use the NICU Tracer and have used this barcode system for about 5 years. They have since sold out to Children's Medical Ventures. Our system is needing replacing and it is now super expensive, so we are moving toward treating BM as a medication so we can use that scanning system for breast milk as well as for medications. Scanning has worked wonders for our unit. We no longer have to double check milk with another nurse and have had no errors since we purchased the scanning system.
In your Level III nurseries do the Respiratory Therapists draw blood from Umbilical Catheters or is this primarily the RN's responsibility?
In our NICU, we currently use medfusion pumps to deliver feedings over 30 minutes to 1 hour (the same pumps we use to deliver medications). Does anyone utilize medfusion pumps in this manner or do you use neonatal feeding pumps? If you use feeding pumps, what brand are you using and do you like them?
