Good luck Maryash, and thanks for freeing up a spot for us waitlisters!! I'm DEFINITELY someone who would fully appreciate a spot in the program and give it 100%! I'll need to keep reminding myself to eat and breathe until I get a letter

hmm I don't have a "decision status" button. have you always had that button down there? grr I just want to know!! haha

Did you guys find your decision letter under "check your application" or is it a whole new section that they add when they upload the letter? I don't see a decision up yet and am not sure exactly where I would find it on there

Congratulations!!! Of course after reading your post I couldn't help but try to call myself but it went to voicemail. I'm going to try to refrain from calling again and just continue checking every 2 seconds I'm checking my email and the site where I view my application... that IS the site where they're going to notify us.. right? :spin:

    Hey everyone,
It's been a while since I've looked at this thread so sorry if this is a repeat, but does anyone know how we are notified of their decision? i.e. should I be obsessively checking my mail or my email?

Hey Carolina11! Your GPA and GRE are similar to mine... your GPA is actually a little higher though. No bueno! I feel like I have other things that may redeem myself but that's why I was throwing this out there, to see if others who got in maybe did poorly on those 2 things like I did but have other stuff to offer. I have submitted my application and am waiting on everyone to write their letters for me. Where else did you apply besides Duke? If I don't get into Duke I'm just going to go to Wake Tech and then do the online ADN - BSN program while I work as a nurse. I REALLY want to go to Duke though... on the other hand, if I don't get in I'll save $50K. lol But that's just my silver lining in case I have to go to Wake Tech

    Hey there!
I'm applying to Duke's ABSN program for Fall 2010. I'm a little nervous about my credentials and wonder what others out there had to offer that were accepted into the program. More specifically, what were your GPA and GRE like? And if they weren't so hot and you got accepted, what else did you have that you think helped you out?

Maryash - I don't live in Durham, I live in Raleigh. I worked at Duke for a few years and made the commute... can't say I know the area very well unfortunately. I know there are some nice places to live near Southpoint Mall which is close to campus. Off the top of my head that's the only place that I would recommend - I'm sure you're aware there are plenty of places in Durham that you don't want to live, so make sure you do your research Or come on out to Raleigh... hopefully we'll both get in and we can carpool! haha

kebunt - I think you're definitely right that they're looking for people with all different backgrounds. I'd venture to say it would be one of the happiest days of my life if I got into Duke! Now I'm just telling myself I did all I could do, so if I get in AWESOME!! and if not, at least I know there was nothing more that could have been done. Except maybe a little more studying in undergrad, that may have helped Until there's a time capsule that can take me back 7 years, what's done is done! Good luck to us all!! And happy waiting!

    Hey everyone!
I'm applying to Duke's ABSN program for Fall 2010. I'm about to officially submit my application and will begin the waiting process! I'm pretty nervous about it... I feel like I have a *chance* but my GPA and GRE are just above the cutoffs. What I do have going for me are A's in all but 1 of my pre-reqs (a B in English Comp, ugh), experience working with patients, good recommendations from Duke doctors, applicable certifications and training, and a strong personal statement. I wonder if there are others out there who have previously been accepted to Duke's ABSN program or are now applying with a similar situation? Anyone besides me think I have a shot in the dark or are GPA and GRE heavily weighed??
