  1. Do nurses use their wristwatch in real life nursing?

I have learned that it is, but it's still considered ok to not get clean underneath rings and watches? I don't get it.
  2. Do nurses use their wristwatch in real life nursing?

How is it possible to do that hundreds of times each shift? I mean, we are required to disinfect our hands and underarms before and after contact with a patient. No rings, watches och bracelets or sleeves in the way since they won't be properly clean...
  3. Do nurses use their wristwatch in real life nursing?

A question, how do you disinfect your hands and arms when you have a watch strapped to your wrist?
  4. Do nurses use their wristwatch in real life nursing?

Over here we are not allowed anything (shirt sleeves, wrist watches, bracelets, rings etc) beneath the elbow in any kind of patient work. It's the same rule in every hospital, nursing home, dentist's office etc. For clocking pulse or respiratory rate...
  5. How do you keep your back healthy and safe?

Strengthen your back (and all other muscle groups!) with weight training, never move/change patients by yourself and always use the moving/lifting aids available and try to work ergonomically.
  6. Who is responsible for your health?

As already stated, one's personal responsibility and what society should be responsible for, are two separate things. In my opinion (as shared with most of Europe) adequate health care is a basic right for all people and it's provided for by the gove...
  7. Can your hands handle to constant washing? What to do if they can't?

Why do you wash your hands all the time? Don't you have desinfectant solutions? We are strongly advised against washing our hands all the time as it damages the skin. Also, using antibacterial soap only makes the bacteria stronger, so don't.
  8. Is Tramadol part of your Narc count?

No. Not in any of the hospital wards I've worked.
  9. Do you actually wear gloves/gowns/masks ?

In Sweden we rarely use masks. Nowadays with the "new flu" scare people are a bit more paranoid though. Gowns and gloves must be used when handling "dirty" stuff (making a bed, changing and such), not for just entering a room with a "normal" patien...
  10. What do you think of chantix?

My dad stopped smoking after over 40 years of smoking 1-2 packs a day with Champix (it's called that here in Sweden). He didn't mention any side effects so I guess if he had any, they weren't that bad. One major reason he hasn't falled off the wagon ...
  11. "disturbed Energy Field" ...Really?

Wow. Is that really legal in the U.S? In Sweden the medical professions are inhibited by law to not engage in or recommending "alternative" methods/treatments/drugs. I do support the standardized NANDA nursing diagnoses but this I have not heard of. ...
  12. 13 things a nurse won't tell you

    1. If you don't want medical treatment you're free to leave. 2. You're now on my ****-list. (in response to the whiny/moronic patient who this morning called my taking a blood sample "all evil in the world".)
  13. Narc Count

We have one signlist per drug (narcotic) which has the following columns: 1. Date, 2. number of pills/vials added, 3. number of pills/vials taken out, 4. patient's surname, 5. number of pills/vials left, 6. balance (+/-), and 7. nurse's signature.
