  1. Business Card Credentials

At my workplace we also do not get a say in how our credentials are presented. My business card (and ID card) both say name, MSN, APRN, CNP (kinda long in my opinion!).
  2. looking for NP preceptors in Twin Cities, MN!

I only completed one rotation in the twin cities, and it was for a specialty rotation, but I've had luck at Minnesota Oncology (both the Fridley and St. Paul campuses). Hope this helps!
  3. Should and do fnp's room their pt's

As an NP working in a specialty I have rarely needed to room my patient's (usually its a lack of rooms, not lack of roomERs!). I have, on more than one occasion, called patient's from the lobby to discuss test results or the result of phone calls/ap...
  4. NP School Acceptance? GPA?

Graduate school is certainly very competitive and it will be important to have every advantage you can get for acceptance. Keep in mind, though, there are other components to your application that will help showcase your skills. If the GRE is not r...
  5. NP to DNP - trying to decide

I agree, it is hard to financially justify returning to school without a monetary return on the investment. For personal satisfaction I would like to pursue the DNP, however, it has been difficult finding a local school that will stretch out the pro...
  6. ANCC OR AANP

Like others have posted I've not had a problem with an employer only accepting one versus another. I prefer clinically based questions thus went with AANP. It was also nice to have 25 fewer questions :)

I found Fitzgerald (both the live review, CDs, and book) to be quite helpful. In addition I bought the APEA Q-bank and studied from that for about a month prior to taking the test. While I didn't think the Q-bank's questions were strikingly similar...
  8. Best prep specialty for FNP

I think it really depends where you want to practice as an NP. For instance, I never worked ED or even general med/surg as a nurse (always in a specialty). While this proved to be more challenging in clinical rotations, my previous experience in he...

  13. Mayo Clinic Reality

OnlyByHisGrace, I'm sorry but I don't have access to private messages at this time. Do you have any questions I could answer on here?
  14. Mayo Clinic Reality

I'm a nurse at Mayo, and I love working here. I worked previously at a smaller rural hospital where staffing was terrible, doctors did not respect nurses, and your license was one the line each shift you worked. Since coming here I feel valued as a...
  15. Questions on Wyoming Medical Center, Casper !!!

I recently started at the WMC as a graduate nurse in June and so far I really enjoy it. I moved from Michigan so it was a big change for me...but Casper is a really friendly city. I work on the Progressive Care Unit (majority of patients cardiac re...
