  1. Need help with decision

I would personally avoid the night shift if you can; been there and done that, it's tough. The diff. was great but it wasn't worth what it did to my body [it turns the circadiane rhythm upside down], mind and spirit-never mind the family life; there ...
  2. Welcome, New York Nurses!

I take it you attended MSW @ GGH. I attended there also and I'm also an employee of the system. Yes, both are still up and running; and quite proficiently from what I hear. Marion has the biggest class size in years- 30 students and had to create a w...
  3. Finishing my Bachelor's

Do you really think there are any cons? I don't. I have been a M/S nurse for a few years now, I have had as many as ten pts on one shift. It was absolutely crazy- I now work mental health because of the associated chaos; and people think their nuts!!

  8. From Med/Surg to Psych?

Yes, head furst-lol. I decided after several month of total chaos [in M/S], I needed a change. [To be perfectly honest it's been total chaos since my hire 2.5 years ago.] I petitioned the nurse manager, who was reluctant to let me go. Finally, she co...
  9. Do you live in the City or Upstate?

Yates County here!! In the Fingerlakes Region on Keuka Lake; it's definately Gods' country. We moved in from MA approximately seven years and are really glad we did.
  10. From Med/Surg to Psych?

Hello Smack, Writing as a nurse who recently did just that, I'm very happy with my decision. I LOVE mental health. Unfortunately the staff at this particular facility, leaves more than enough to be desired. It's not about the ratio, but the interact...
