  1. Depends on the program you're applying for. In most cases you will need at least a year to complete your prereqs and then the nursing clinicals start, which I guess take 2 years to complete. Think 3 years unless you find a 2 year program where you do...
  2. Level of intelligence

No kidding? LOL ME TOO! :wink2: On this VERY site? No way! Such as who?
  3. A&P in first year nursing school. OMG

Exactly what in the book are you having difficulties with? Just read the book and use the internet to supplement your studies. Youtube has plenty of videos with people explaining different A&P concepts and there are a lot of other good websites y...
  4. Suggested Study Habits

Yes, that's a very good point. Do not get too far ahead of yourself memorizing every single bone and muscle because chances are you will not need to know all of it anyway. Better to use that time for the stuff you will need to know. I haven't gotten ...
  5. Suggested Study Habits

I am currently taking A&P and I also use the same book so maybe I could suggest a few things. Obviously, start with Chapter I. This is the easiest section in the book so read everything and know it well. Memorize all the directional terms and bo...
  6. Beginning to panic....

It's easy to get overwhelmed because there is a lot of terminology you do not know yet. It's kind of like learning a new language, just start slow and take it in strides. I pick 10-15 new words everyday and memorize them. It's really not that bad. I'...
  7. Help deciding major/career

One more thing I wanted to add. The people that get into nursing schools aren't geniuses, okay? They have the best grades because they have the discipline to sit down and study their butts off. Now, I don't know you personally so I can't assess your ...
  8. Help deciding major/career

Look into Respiratory Therapy. The wait is not as long as Radiology or Nursing.
  9. Shortage of instructors = waiting?

I personally wouldn't mind paying an extra few thousand (up to $5k let's say) if it meant getting into a program 2-3 years earlier considering the money you can make in those lost years. I have some friends here in NJ that are waiting exactly that, 2...
  10. student needs advice PLEASE

It's no problem, and no I did not read it that way at all
  11. Audio Recorders for Lectures

I am the same way. I hope they let us use audio recorders, I don't see why they wouldn't.
  12. Shortage of instructors = waiting?

I am going the RT route but there are waiting lists for us just like pre-RN's have it My school currently offers 3 spots to the program every year, that's so ridiculous. I'll apply but I'm prepared to apply to 10 more schools elsewhere.
  13. student needs advice PLEASE

I didn't think you suggested to her to leave her dad behind, I was just giving her some feedback.
  14. Shortage of instructors = waiting?

Thanks for the post. So obviously it isn't just the problem of not having sufficient amount of instructors.
  15. Audio Recorders for Lectures

So people actually come to class with audio recorders and just have them on for the duration of the class? Do those things even pick up the instructor's voice loud enough to be able to play it back and listen to it? I'd imagine you'd have to sit in f...
