I am in the same situation! I have been staying at home with my 15 month old since she was born and I'm so nervous to leave her for a year. What are your plans for your little one? Daycare? I hope that I will be able to spend enough time with my family and still be able to do well in the program. I also start in Aug '09. Nervous but excited to be a nurse!

I'm not sure you can do it through other schools but I know Research College of Nursing does it. It's great because you don't have to apply and hope you get it, you just sign up for it. I did my prereqs at Rockhurst and I had to pay for them upfront but once I sign the 2 year work agreement they will reimburse me. Check out Research College's website: www.researchcollege.edu for more info on the programs they have.

I am in the AO RCON '10 class and even if it is not as great a hospital as others in the area, tuition is worth it. They pay 100% plus all of my pre reqs that I had left to finish. It's only 2 years and hey I'm just grateful to have a guaranteed job when I graduate. Not everyone can say that.

Oh, good to know. I don't think we want to rent though. We'll see. I'm hoping we will be able to fly out there for a few days this summer and look around. Thanks so much for all the advice. My husband will be going to the Med school in the Northern part of the city so we will probably end up somewhere north. I hear the area by his school isn't that great but there are areas around that are nice. We have a while to look but if anyone hears of anything good let me know!

Yeah that would be great. I will probably only take 3-6 credits each semester because I really only need a couple psychology and theology classes for the 15 credit hours. Then I don't know what to take, electives I guess just to get in the 15 hours. I am moving from Utah with my husband, he is going to med school starting in August. We are looking into buying a townhouse somewhere down by the research college. We hear it's safer and a nicer area than in the northern part of the city.

That is so nice to live so close to family. I'm going to miss mine when we move in Aug. I hate to leave my baby at day care or someone else's house but hopefully I will be able to find something for the year during school. At least I have a year before I start to do the 15 hours at Rockhurst and to find a babysitter. How did the 15 hours go for you? Did you do any online so you could still stay at home? You will have to keep me posted on how everything goes in the fall when you start. It will come soon. Good luck!

Thanks so much! There is hope! I know it will be worth it I just have to go for it. Can I ask you how often your mom is going to watch your baby? I'm sad I will have to leave her somewhere but I keep telling myself it's only 1 year and if I don't do it now then I don't know if I ever will. What does your husband do? Will he be able to watch your baby sometime while you are at school? Thanks so much for any advice and encouragement. I'm so excited but nervous too.

Am I crazy??....My husband and I are moving to KC this fall I am hoping to start the Accelerated program in Aug '09. I am due to have our first baby in April and my husband will be going to med school. Am I crazy to think that I could be a new mom and go through the program with my husband gone too? Any suggestions would be great! Thanks so much!
