  1. FOOTPRINTS

We don't do footprints as routine, and especially not on the timy premmies, who do not need the handling and certainly don't need ink put on their thin, permeable skin - who knows what chemicals are in the ink! We do prints for stable babies at the ...
  2. Florence Nightengale Pledge.

Nope. We don't do that here in New Zealand.
  3. Deciding whether to drop out CRNA school?

I don't work in the USA but I have been a nurse for 35 years and there are a couple of points I would like to make. First of all, the experiences related by micugirl may not be like yours, but they are valid nonetheless. None of us have the right t...
  4. Medication error causes 2 deaths in Indiana NICU

Milk and sugar please, and I prefer stotty cake (I come from Durham)!!
  8. Welcome to your new U.K. Nurses forum

Hi, I was born in Scotland of English and Welsh parents and have been living in New Zealand for the last xxxx years - can us expatriate Brits join in ?
  9. Preemies and suppositories????

I know, it sounds impossible to give a preemie a suppository, but it is fairly common practice where I have worked. We cut a sliver off the side of the suppository with a scalpel blade and use KY jelly for lubrication. It usually goes in easily eno...
  10. Feeding Protocol

We start the preemies on 2 hourly OG/NG feeds, titrating the feeds up and the IV down. Then when they are up to full feeds we go to 3 hourly. Usually by this time they are ready for breast or bottle, whichever is the mother's choice.
