  1. Changing a patient's diaper while they are standing ?

I can understand if they are in the actual bathroom. I was commenting on residents who are incontinent. You wouldn't want to walk someone to their bed with feces dropping off of their bottom. I agree with that. However if the resident is incontinen...
  2. Changing a patient's diaper while they are standing ?

I think changing a brief and doing peri care while the resident is standing is inappropriate. I have seen two cnas with a res's arm draped around the shoulders while one wipes...... It's sad. They need their dignity, most of of them have lost so much...
  3. New Member

Welcome! I start CNA classes in Nov, then off to work (hopefully I'll pass).....so we will be almost learning together :)
  4. immature but true

I just re-read my last post and want to say that I didn't mean it to sound rude, I guess it's just the way it came out.
  5. immature but true

Well, I am 25 so I don't really consider myself "young" lol I feel like I am around 90 some days. I hope you aren't assuming that I am going to be unprofessional because I am nervous (or young). From what I am reading, there are a lot of people who ...
  6. immature but true

I am starting a CNA job soon for a nursing home (they are paying for my certification), and I am VERY nervous. When I walked into the place I was SO scared (just to have my interview.) I know that these are just people like everyone else, and I DO wan...
  7. any weak stomachs?

wow lol you guys get to deal with some pretty gross stuff! I know its not something I should be worrying about, it just makes me feel a little better to know that SOME things get easier to handle
  8. any weak stomachs?

Hi all. I am a PRE- nursing student with *another question* :) Did any of you nurses have weak stomachs? I didn't really have one before I had my 2 little girls. I could watch/see/smell anything (except look at spiders, I have arachnophobia) and not...
  9. Question about clinicals

Exactly how does the clinical process work? Does your school pick the hospital and the area that you work in? (I'm a pre-nursing student)...just curious.... :)
  10. Sexist English Teacher

I'm not sure what to do yet because I don't think dropping the class at this point is an option. And you are SO right about him. It was like he was warning us not to go to the dean. Now I know why he wont allow tape recorders in the class.
  11. Sexist English Teacher

Actually he said it in front of the whole class. He also went into a rip about how he has only been in the boss' office once for a complaint from a male student (who he said is a mommas boy). He then said he can't count how many times he has been in ...
  12. Sexist English Teacher

I agree. I had his class today and he explained his grading system. if you look like an A student then he does everything he can to help you keep your A. If you look like a B student you will be keeping your B. If you look like a failing student you ...
  13. doctor/nurse relationship

wow thanks for all the replies! I think that I will be ok. For some reason I have always had this schtick in my head that the doctor fires the nurse for "talking back" lol. Silly, I know.
  14. What does the test entail?

ok I know the basics of algerbra *phew* and by the time I apply I will have had at least 1 chem course (scary)..... Thanks :)
  15. doctor/nurse relationship

Hi all. I am a mere pre-nursing student...lol but thought I would slip in and ask some of you experienced nurses a question. What is a doctor/nurse relationship like? I have a sister who works in the hospital ER and she says the doctors yell at the ...
