We have one LVN case manager at the hospital that I work at. We are a rehab hospital so she handles discharge planning and such. I've been giving thought myself about trying to shadow a case manager to see if that is something that I would be interested in as well (I am also working on bridging to my RN).

Anyone know of any bridge programs in Texas (preferrably north Texas)? I know about El Centro but worry about the waiting time for them. I'm looking for a bigger program (perhaps) or one with a better chance of getting in the first time or 2.

    Thanks in advance,

There is a refresher course that is held in Arlington, TX. I took it last january when I was wanting to re-enter nursing after being out for 4 yrs. It lasted approx. 10wks and then I applied at local hospitals. I had to start at new grad pay but at least I was able to start working.

I thought it was just me. I've done self study courses before and thought this wouldn't be too hard but it kind of is. I have tried following the outline but it isn't working out. I bought both books but that hasn't helped either. I'll check out the link you posted. I'm thinking I should have started my Excelsior career with something other than gerontology...lol.

Anyone know where I can buy one, preferrably used? I tried looking on ebay and came up empty. I'm going to check amazon later. I was able to find my textbooks on amazon but thought a study guide would help me organize myself better.

    Thanks in advance,

Thanks for the info on uniforms. As far as sexy goes....US scrubs aren't sexy either...lol.

I have looked briefly into salaries over there. My MIL has been helping as well. I definitely would want to get what is deserved for the position. I will be doing a lot more research into this. Thanks for the heads up.

Carcha......Most likely we will settle in north England. We're not 100% sure yet. There so much I need to look into....lol.

I left nursing 4 years ago and to get back in I had to take a refresher course. I met a lady from Scotland during the course. She said our medications are different so I was thinking I might need to look into a similar course in England. I'm not sure that I would feel comfy just jumping into nursing there.

This may sound like a silly question but do y'all get to wear scrubs or is it some sort of uniform?

    Thanks ,

I keep hearing that nurses in the UK have less of a patient load than here in the US. Is that true? Where I work I can have 8-10 patients. Also, is it true that y'all do less duties thus freeing up more time for quality patient care?

Thanks for offering to help .

Please forgive me if I am intruding on this thread. I am a nurse here in the States but will be moving to England. If anyone is interested in taking me under their wing for some guidance, it would be much appreciated . I have so many questions and have no idea where to begin.
