  2. seniority

In our unit being a senior nurse guarentees you an AWFUL schedule. Since there are only 6 full time charge and transport nurses on at nights and you have to have a least 2 charge and 2 transport RN's per night, imagine what our schedules look like!!...
  3. What do you all think about this job?

I would go for it and just call the nurse manager directly. When I applied at the hospital I now have worked at for 6 years HR claimed they had no positions open for new grads. Yet, when I called the NICU nurse manager directly I had an interview t...

  9. What Is Your Most Gross, Yucky, Disgusting Nursing Horror Story?

Well as a NICU nurse we don't get to witness many of the lovely things that have been described...but I have one that not only is the grossest thing that has ever happened but also the thing that to this day gives me nightmares. So, if you decide to ...
  10. Vent to CPAP...scenario and questions for ya'll!

Depends what the reaons were for her needing to be reintubated...if it was because of A's & B's starting on caffeine or rebolusing her might help. If it was mechanical, steriods or an ENT consult is probably needed. In our unti if an infant fail...
  11. What are your parameters for resusitation at delivery?

Our neos will resusictate up to a 22 weeker....the parents are counseled before delivery of the possible outcome and are given options. Usually if the baby comes out with some resp effort/heart rate we will intubate and admit. 2 years ago we had a ...
