  1. NP programs for non-nursing BS or BS holders

The few that I'm familiar with require the ADN students to go through alot of the nursing programs with the students who come in without any nursing experience. But they are fast-tracked routes to get to the MSN level without having to spend 2-3 mor...
  2. NP programs for non-nursing BS or BS holders

I think in the case of NP's it's the same as any other type of training. People are going to get out of it what they put into it. Interestingly I did read a study in which a group of 1000 doctors were asked to evaluate their nurse practitioners wit...
  3. Worst Day of My Life Turned Out Good!!!

I don't believe she ever did smile. Maybe when she was soothing a soldier or rubbing their feet to make them feel better. Seems kind of un-therapeutic to be so formal, but then again that was a different day and age.
  4. Worst Day of My Life Turned Out Good!!!

Well, I took my NCLEX on Wed. After the first few questions it felt like the nightmare where you go to take a test that you have never even seen the material for. It was asking about meds I'd never heard of (including one that is just in trials in ...
  5. It's the Final Countdown.....

Well, I take the NCLEX-RN on Wed. I'm nervous as can be, having heard all the horror stories about it and what not. I did do the Kaplan Review course, have been practicing 100-150 questions a night. I scored a 70 percent on the Mosby Assess test a...
  6. A litte nervous, just like everyone else.....

Okay, I take the NCLEX on Sept. 26th. I'm nervous, just like everyone else. I have a couple of questions for everyone. 1. Did your program have you take the HESI assessment? If so, how did you do and how similar to the NCLEX was the test? I got ...
  7. Becoming an NP with little to no nursing experience??

Well, it's rigorous for sure. They are putting us through the paces but I'm loving every minute of it. You've heard of the program before Trauma?
  8. Becoming an NP with little to no nursing experience??

Yes, I am in the Vanderbilt program! Adult-Cardiovascular Disease.
  9. Becoming an NP with little to no nursing experience??

There are several programs in the area that put out MSN advanced practice nurses. It's tough getting a job here when you graduate. The other problem is there is Vanderbilt's Med School so they have a million residents to do the jobs that NP's could...
  10. Becoming an NP with little to no nursing experience??

I live in Middle Tennessee. Nashville to be exact.
  11. Becoming an NP with little to no nursing experience??

I did not mean to sound as if I was downing ADN programs. It's just been that the majority of nurses who have had derogatory things to say about our Bridge-MSN program were ADN prepared nurses. That's all I was trying to share. I'm doing an Adult ...
  12. Becoming an NP with little to no nursing experience??

Thank you neuronightnurse for bringing up a point I wanted to share. We're talking about NP's coming out with no experience, but look at resident physicians and even new grad PA's. All of them come out of their training with a similar lack of exper...
  13. Accepted to both RN & masters in Nursing...what to choose??? HELP!

I had a similar choice and chose the MSN program. I haven't regretted it yet. I'm in the middle of the program but it's awesome. Accelerated pace but as an MSN you get to do so much more than an ADN.
  14. Getting to know the men behind the names...

Hi all, I'm one of the older guys too. I'm 32 and I'm in an MSN "bridge" program at Vanderbilt University. I spent 5 years in the Army as a combat medic. I've always known I wanted to go into medicine but didn't heed that call right out of my Bach...
