  1. How do you work and go to nursing school?

I was in the military for 10 years, where 20-25 hour days were common, so I just don't sleep much. As it was so eloquently put "The only easy day was yesterday....."
  2. Oklahoma introductions....

My name is Greg, and I live in Moore with my pregnant wife (due in Nov), 2 year old son, German Shepherd, and cat. I work full time at Mercy as a NA on the Ortho-Neuro floor and have been there a week. As far as school goes, I am in Rose State's RN p...
  3. How is everyone doing this semester?

Busy here. I work as a NA at Mercy, and it does give you a lot of basic knowledge and helps you manage time. However, I find it kinda frustrating because you know how to do a lot, but you can't...... Oh well....that is what the LPN boards are for at ...
  4. Full time work AND school?

I work full time (2 12's and 2 8's) as a CNA. I work the night shifts so that Ican go to school and see my pregnant wife and 2 year old. I go to school M-Th, so sleep is sparse at best. That is OK, the military got me used to that, and exercise, coff...
  5. How did you guys realize that nursing was for you?

Nursing is a stepping stone for me, on the way to medical school. Even though the philosophies are different, I think that a lot of the things that I learn here will help me to be a better doctor later.
  6. Financial Aid Distress

  7. Getting to know the men behind the names...

Another bubblehead....! What are the odds......? I too was in the Navy for 10 years (Nuclear Engineer on "boats", and an EMT for the EMAT.), and left when the Navy and I had conflicting opinions on my future. So, I left, taught for the USPS for awhil...
  8. Being a man in the field

I'll probably get flamed for this, but being a male in class really allows you to enjoy the class dynamic (read: cattiness) that I have noticed follows groups of women from diverse backgrounds. It can be quite entertaining.......
  9. What is your fall schedule?

Mine is kinda convoluted: Sunday work from 11PM-7AM Monday Morning, then grab a 2 hour nap, then Nursing class from 12:30-2:20, then study in the library, then Principles of Micro (Pre-Med class) from 5:50-9:00. No work Mon/Tue night d/t clinicals at...
  10. Hi - I'm a potential nursing student looking for info...

RSC also only looks at pre-req courses, and has increased class sizes d/t more funding. It is still pretty competitive (132-134 points to get in), so having some work experience is necessary. On the flip side, Rose has a high NCLEX passage rate (94% ...
