  1. "Nurses Rights"???

Yeah, that's what was thinking, too. I thought it odd, but some nurses were discussing it the other night and the conversation gave me the impression this had been done........?? Sometimes I like to "just sit back with my charting and hear the conv...
  2. "Nurses Rights"???

Has anyone ever heard of a nurse having the right to refuse to assume care of a patient because: a) The pt/family has a reputation of being highly litigious (can't spell!.. they like to sue!) or b) the pt is under the care of a specific doctor that h...
  3. Looking for a great ICU flow for RNs to organize their shift

Mega thanks to RoxanRN2003 for the great forms. and multi mega thanks to NRSKaren and nightngale for reminding us to be careful out here in the www.
  4. Looking for a great ICU flow for RNs to organize their shift

Thanks to "Elizabeth" for the sheets. These are really great! I plan to "mesh" about 3 of them together. Again, thanks for sharing.
  5. AFFECTS of NIGHT SHIFT

My Momma said I was a vampire (staying up all night, not sucking the life out of her LOL) since the day I was born. The night shift is my dream job. I've always wanted to allow myself to sleep when I wanted to, not when the "norm" said I'm suppose ...
  6. Hi April, we use the Silent Knight at my facility as well. I really like it. Ditto on making a habit of cleaning the pill cutter, though.
  7. The Best $7.98 I ever spent!!

Way to GO!! "you can breath now!" LOL
  8. Do you mix your insulins?

OK, OK, my head is hanging at the thought of causing unnecessary discomfort to ANY pt. I just worry that when things are really nuts (busy med/surg floor) any step in eliminating potential med error is safer than not.??
  9. Do you mix your insulins?

    I don't mix. I'm just too paranoid.
  10. Question about Kaplan trainer CD

I used Kaplan, Saunders, ..anything I could get my hands on. The instructors at the school I went to made up their own test questions SUPPOSEDLY using NCLEX format. The questions usually frustrated the heck out of me because they seemed so subjecti...
  11. Yeah, I was very tired...

Do you find yourselves knocking on doors when EXITING the room????? Yep, done it. LOL
  12. nurses mixing meds

Hi, Alongbella I work under a very similar situation. Only one of the night nursing supervisors do I trust for following medication orders. But this might help at least a little....... I've tried to develope some rapport with the pharmacists at the...
  13. Abnormal lab results

All she meant was that things we do or the ways we do them are constantly changing. What we may currently think is the absolute right thing for our pts, some research may come along tomorrow and say "OMG, we shouldn't have been doing that at all!"
  14. Abnormal lab results

Hope PaPaw is a professor at a Medical University!!! Honest! If I had an MD talk to me like that, I'd likely never question him/her again! But, yeah, Picc, I, too, like looking at the pt and not the equipment...........so as an instructor once said...
  15. Floor nursing vs ICU nursing

Med/Surg floor nurses have ALL of my respect and envy!!! I just can't seem to figure out how they do it! They're great at it. They give all the care (OK, MOST of them) that I seem to feel I need to give to my pts, PLUS they get all their charting ...
