    To minRN and Jackie
There are some universities with specialization in Psychiatry leading to Advanced Practice in Psych Nursing Degree. Here in Maryland, USA,where I completed my MS in Psych, Adult Psych and Mental Health Nursing encompasses different areas of interest in Psych practice. Geriatric population is true to homecare because of Medicare. I can not imagine the exclusion of psych in the study of gerontology, and what I often encounter in my practice is more of neuropsychiatry in the geriatric population.

    To Linda,
We have seen patients with postpartum depression in homecare, as they are referred to our program (Behavioral Health), especially when there is safety risk involve in both mother and
newborn. Patients demonstrate typically signs and symptoms of depression and will need Psychiatric Evaluation with a psychiatrist for appropriate treatment plans. We follow our specialty guidelines in servicing the needs of such patients.
