   It would be better if your references come from different employers (1 from recent, 1 from past employers). Take note that references should either be a senior nurse or a doctor who supervised you at work.

   In my experience, I sent my documents last March 15th. Then on March 23rd it was displayed on the NMC portal that they have received the files. I received my DL on the 16th of May.
