Meeting AHPRA requirements as a International Trained Nurse from the Philippines

Published

Can we apply for PR after getting bridging recommendation from AHPRA?

You can apply anytime for PR from ANMAC with or without AHPRA registration. Just one is modified assessment and the one is full assessment.

Please be aware though AHPRA is now so tight with assessments nurses from the UK that call their qualification a diploma are now being refused registration without a bridging course, if this is the case having a four year degree from an overseas country with the first 2 years practically full of subjects usually taught in high school and not nursing subjects may just reduce down quite considerably.

@ceridywn What do you mean by "reduce down quite considerably"? Does this mean that the four year nursing degree in the Philippines will be considered as Diploma in Australia?

NO, one would hope not, but it will need to have all the subjects that Australian degrees have, I would imagine, the national law also does state that the curriculum should cover many facets of nursing. Aged care, med/surg, large amount mental health, cultural sensitivity, research.

Good for you om'sarah. In my case I have to quit my job there to get all my needed papers so I went for an exit and currently unemployed. Please let me know if you got your letter of eligibility. God bless you:)

Hello iamnomad:) Were you affected by the new changes this February? If so, how long did you wait after completing the 8 criterias. I lodged my application last december and passed the other needed requirements to complete the 8 criterias last april. Did your 90 days extension lapse or did you receive the LOE before it lapsed?:) Thank you and Godbless:)

Hi everyone! It's been 2 months since I last posted here.. and there are so much comments i needed to read to keep track of how everybody else is now. Sadly, the answer AHPRA is providing me with my application update is that it' s still being assessed, and a time frame cannot be given due to the high volume of applicants. I have read in previous posts that some have waited 7 months.. and one waited 13 months! :( it does make me feel frustrated not knowing when my waiting shall end, especially because I have lodged my application last September.. and then I have to send additional documents for the new criteria last March/April. :( how I wish the answer will come soon. ?

really? you caught my attention. I heard that they're very particular with the school you've graduated from. What measures did you take to address this concern? They released LOE's last may I heard.Just keep the faith and continuously pray pray pray.:)I am also waiting for 6 months now. Let's hope for the best.

I plan to send my application tomorrow... my roadblock is my mode of payment... where can I make the payment in AUD?

@maine1987

My mom has a friend in Queensland (a nurse also) who calls the AHPRA office every now and then to also check on my status. However she also got the same answer and also told me that these months have been very busy because many nurses are also renewing their licenses. Yeah you're right! Keep the faith and believe :)

btw jcrisostomo8, did you receive another letter of extension? beacause one applicant received one last week.
