I am looking at RIO SOLADO's site and want to take a medical terminology course. I have not worked in the medical field at all, which should I take - the 1 credit, 2 credit or 3 credit course? They do not explain very well the difference between the 3 courses .

Bonita, just realize that none of the medical terminology courses are pre-reqs for getting into MCC nursing programs....however I would assume that the classes with 2 and 3 credits are more in depth than the 1 credit class. Would depend on the time you are willing to commit and how much information you need. I took most of my pre reqs with Rio and I LOVED it! You need to be self motivated but the freedom is wonderful! Hope this helps...

I would take the medical terminology class even though it is not considered a pre-req. I found it to be really helpful in understanding concepts. I believe mine was just one credit and I took it online through GCC. Good Luck!

take either the 2 or 3 credit class...they go more indepth and pull everything together in a way that makes sense

Hmm, I'm enrolled in this class and only saw the 1 credit course? Speaking of which, I need to double check to make sure they got my enrollment right.
Thanks everyone!! I was leaning towards the 2 credit class because I have BIO160 this semester that I also need to concentrate on. I do know that neither is a requirement for nursing, but I think both will help me out during the program. And it keeps me busy (academically) waiting for the program to start. I took BIO201/202 a while back and wanted a refresher.

If you haven't worked in the medical field at all I would consider taking this online medical terminology course

I think the official title is Medical Terminology for Health Professions but it starts with basic word building.
